Thanks... and yea I am well aware of the XDA forums. and have read several tutorials on various ways of rooting Android phones.
But I wanted to get an idea from the forum members here though if they rooted their V10, and their experience in doing it.

I'm on T-Mobile, too. I rooted mine back when it was still in lollipop and I just recently updated it to Eliminator's Marshmallow ROM.

It wasn't difficult when I first rooted it, but the new methods look a little sketchy to me. I'm used to rooting Nexuses, though.

You'll probably lose everything. When you unlock the bootloader, the phone gets wiped. I can't recall if you can root this phone without unlocking the bootloader.

You can check if KingRoot can work on your phone, as I can root it with this root app.

Used to always root my phones but the reason to root just isn't there anymore. Plus I've been playing Pokemon Go and rooted phones don't work. The only thing I miss about rooting is Titanium Backup. There really is no non-root alternative as good.
