Anyone successfully root'd their N1?

Reason i'm asking, is i'd love to have this working:

And right as i was typing this up, i came across this:

I'm hoping something easier than that process comes down the line.... soon.

It works better than any tethering app that I have for my Blackberry. I use my tethered N1 with my laptop, and it is very fast.

I haven't tried to tether yet, but I did successfully root my Nexus One a few days ago without any hitches. I used the walk-through in this forum and supplemented it with others, mainly droiddog.com.
