I have had an Epic since launch and i do love the phone. The battery life isn't the greatest and the keyboard misses keys, but i do love the screen, camera and GPU.

I have the opportunity to switch to a Shift if i please, so i'm wondering if anyone has switched from the Epic and if they life the Shift better and why, and also what they don't like better.

The FFC is no issue for me, and i do understand the screen is a downgrade and so is the camera (just slightly though).

I'm looking for feedback on how the battery compares, any lag, keyboard, responsiveness, etc.

Thanks

the phone is actually alot faster according to speed tests, just cause it has a 800 mhz processor means nothing, its a gen 2 snapdragon which is actually alot faster than the evo's 1ghz snapdragon.. the batt life is alot better from what ive read..i had and epic and planned to go to this.. im going to wait untill after feb 7th and see what sprint is announcing

I am well aware of the generation 2 snapdragon being much more efficient and faster than the first gen found in the Evo and almost even with the Hummingbird (when OC'd to 1 ghz, it should be faster than the Hummingbird). The GPU isn't as good as the Epic though.

I am just curious from anyone that has/had the Epic, switched to the Shift and their thoughts about both. Pros vs Cons, etc.

I've switched from the Epic to the Shift...best move I could have made. I did it on day 30, and I actually got a refund. Walmart had the Shift for $89, and Best Buy Mobile price matched it. I paid $189 for my Epic, so I got the refund of $100 for a better device (IMO).

My Epic was lagging big time, even after it was rooted and updated with the beta Froyo 2.2. My battery life sucked. I was having to charg elike every 4 hours.

The keyboard was also an issue for me on the Epic. I found it bulky, and although I have big hands, I couldn't maneuver the slide out keyboard that well.

I have no issue with the Shift's keyboard, it feels comfy.

I say if you have the chance...take it.

Benchmarking the phone beats the epic, real world performance its about the same with MAYBE a slight shift in the shifts favor but that's a stretch. The camera seems to be about the same quality (with the epic being favored), but does not have a 2 stage button like the epic so for semi serious pics it wont be as good. As for the keyboard its growing on me. I'm loving how I'm not hitting the period all the time when trying to hit the space bar. I LOVE the epics keyboard and having 5 rows is a HUGE plus, but the more I use my shift the more I remember how much I love HTC keyboards. Like in the review here HTC knows how to make keyboards. Its like thinkpads and dell business in the laptop market hard to match let alone beat.

All in all Im happy with my shift ad like it more then the epic. But I mjst admit I am missing some aspects of the epic. The screen on the epic is MUCH better and while, like everything else on the shift, sense is growning on me I do have to say I was an avid touchwiz fan. But like everything else as each day of use goes buy I am liking sense more.

Iv had both the Epic and the Evo 4g phones, I must say the the Shift s the better one processor wise than both of them. If you can do without the FCC then go with the Evo Shift. In my opinion its not worth the $55 prce difference in Evo's just to "have" a FCC on my phone.
