Anyone switching over to the DLX?

It is that time of year, where i am starting to get new android hotness envy...
But as much as that phone looks great, I know I would miss a Nexus.
I do not want to go back to skins or hard-keys. Plus the Dev community behind the nexus phones is simply stellar and that is reason enough for me to stick with the Nexus line up.

I have nothing against large screens. They don't intrinsically mean a poor user experience, but they are large for some people's hands. That said, I'm fine with a 4.65-inch screen, but a wider 5-inch screen is pushing it for me. I want a big phone, but not a phablet. :)

I've always liked HTC's design, but for the same reasons bakerbert mentioned above, I'll wait on a Nexus phone with a 1080p screen.

That will be next year. By that time soomething crazy will be out

I am too happy with my GNex to switch, especially to an HTC device. Pass

if i upgrade this autumn/winter, it will be lg nexus (assuming verizon has one).

dlx looks nice but - don't need a bigger phone (in fact, a 4.65 inch screen with hardly any bezel would be like my dream come true); strongly dislike vzw "droid" branding aesthetics; physical keys; and sense (bc im just gonna run kang anyway).

agree with all of the above as well. but it looks pretty awesome. just not for me.

It was at this time last year (or close to it) that I was completely undecided about whether or not I would get the Rezound or the Nex. In the end, I went with the Nexus which I think was the right choice when I look at the dev communities between the two phones. I am now stuck this year in the same predicament, do I keep my current Nexus (not jumping to the LG) or go with the DIX? Some questions I would need answered to make the jump:
  • Will we be able to unlock and root it?
  • If so, how strong will the dev community be?
  • I travel a lot which means for long days out and about, can I live without a removable battery?
  • I'd buy off contract to keep my unlimited data, but is that worth it or will they find a way to bump us off these plans soon after?
  • Am I really that much of a selfish jerk to spend all that money off contract and skimp on Christmas gifts for the family? (you really don't need to answer that one)

I love/hate this time of year.

Hopefully, Motorola will have some type of Nexus out next year based on the RAZR Maxx HD. Bump it up to 5" screen, quad core and 2gb of RAM as well. The main knock on my Nexus is the battery life. Sure I can plug it in often (and do). But, it would be nice to go all day without worrying about it. Hopefully, someone comes out with wireless charging capabilities to save tge ports all that wear and tear.

if it works, why upgrade?

just bc its newer doesnt necessarily mean its always going to be better. yaa i understand it has better/faster specs but why? are u happy with ur current phone? are u dying to open up ur fb app .0571 seconds faster?

its like the ps3; the fats vs slims. a lot of people have the older fats bc of the features it has that the slims dont. are there any differences in a slim vs fat? nope. it just physically looks different (and dont dare say HD space when theyre removable/upgradeable at a cheaper price)

lg making a nexus? i dont feel too comfortable, let alone confident as much as some lg products are good, it just doesnt sit right. google did awesome with samsung gnex. wait another year for a truly better nexus experience.

+1, I'm considering the Maxx HD now and waiting to see if a white model comes in Maxx form. Went to VZW last Saturday to compare a few things to my Gnex and I liked it. I'll be looking at the DLX too or even an LG Optimus version if they get one. Just ordered the misses a Gnex from VZW for $230, so we will have 2 Gnex in the house. Bugless Beast will go on it ASAP while I stick with AOKP.

I can't decide. It sure sounds awesome but my GNex has been such an awesome phone. I love the dev community for it and it was awesome having JB on my phone literally the day after it was announced. That won't happen on anything that isn't a nexus. What to do.... what to do....

yup...there are phones out there that i would love to have (S3, OneX, DLX ect,) but i Love the fact that my phone runs software before most people even hear about it...day 2 i was running a 100% stable JB build. you can't say that about anything other than a nexus device.

Since the N4 is not coming to vzw I will be getting the DLX when it comes out. Never owned an HTC before so it will be something new for me. Too bad it's not a Nexus it would have slaughtered LG.
