I want to buy it from Verizon because I still have $426 in Verizon Wireless gift card...

does Verizon's Pixel have that pesky "non-Verizon SIM" message in the notification menu when a non-Verizon SIM is inserted?

I have the Verizon version and it looks like literally everything about it is the same as the unlocked one.

I tried my project fi sim in my VZW pixel and it works perfectly no problems. I did have to reboot to get WiFi calling and hand off working properly. The phone seems to be unlocked with no VZW branding on box or phone. When I fired it up it required an update and when it was finished it began to download go90, my Verizon and Verizon messages I just canceled it while it was downloading. It seems like this maybe pretty close to the Play store version of it. I have not tried the boot-loader though. The WiFi calling will actually jump from cellular to WiFi then back again depending on the connection. This was very surprising for me I guess they put the tech from Fi into it. Im very happy with my purchase.
