Anyone try CM7 pre alpha yet?

Well i decided to give cm7 the good ole try. Well i have been using it for no more than 5 hours. It is great! Hard to get used to? Sure. But not impossible. I dont live in a 4G area so the issue with it is non existent. I am able to do everything i could on bamf. With one exception i cannot get a random reboot. Which i consider a positive. Well im going to stay with it and see what comes next. Anyone recommend a kernel? I downloaded cm7 leankernel normal says its in beta. Im still on stock slayher kernel.

Traitor! ;)

Just wait until it's a nightly build. Nightly is very stable and vanilla gingerbread is epic.

Nightly builds are upgrades to cyanogenmod to make it more functional/stable.and the Cm code is open source. They advocate patches and if it works well it makes it to the nightly build. I'm pretty sure.

Ok i get it. So its like an app? It gets released then updates in this case patches are made available to flash to better improve it. Isnt CM in CM7 or CM6 Cyanogen Mod 7 or Cyanogen Mod 6?

I'm sorry I can't understand your Last question.

I've been running it for a few days. The biggest problems I have is that I have to run fix permissions a LOT because various settings don't like to stick. Also my data connection takes a vacation everytime the data type changes (ie wifi to 3g, 3g to 1x, etc).

Even though the fix for the data issue is a reboot, I'm more than happy to put up with it since I absolutely HATE sense.

smooth rom, camera app sucks compared to stock HTC one, 4G is a pain to get on but the rom has great potential

Yes, the CM in CM6 & CM7 does mean Cyanogen Mod. the number is just as version indicator (IE windows 7).

Yea, the camera app does pale in comparison to the one HTC provides. I'll miss that most of all when i switch over to using CM. If only there was a way to port it over.

I am waiting to root / unlock the bootloader until CM7 makes it out to 2.3.4 with the updated google talk app. That will be amazing.

I ran CM7 for a few days and I found myself missing the BAMF/Sense features believe it or not. Coming from an OG Droid before the Thunderbolt, I have always fancied myself a stock Android fan, but now I'm having a bit of an identity crisis!

Decided to come back to BAMF Remix 1.6.2 because I was having issues with data/wifi staying connected on CM7 and required frequent reboots to get it back. Also, it didn't seem like much of a performance boost. Had some laggy screen issues and such. Not a huge fan of the ADW launcher...wonder why they bake a launcher into a ROM that is supposed to be stock Android? Maybe I'll try it again in the future, but I'd personally prefer a Project Elite ROM for the Thunderbolt! Had that on the Droid and almost didn't upgrade because of the speed I was getting out of that ROM...But the Thunderbolt beckoned. :D

Bear, i know what you mean i too find myself missing some of those BAMF features. They say CM7 is super customizable. I know its in pre-alpha but its not that customizable.

I have one concern before i loaded CM7 i was on BAMF 1.6 and it said 32 windows in browsing but i never got passed 4. Believe it or not i like stock browsers and want those extra windows. I may go back to BAMF tonight.

CM7 has been running good without reboots or much lag. I just miss the customization from BAMF.
