Anyone trying out DK28 yet?

Option to use power button to end calls

This option I did not know about... Smart idea since I myself had problems with the touchpad not being responsive sometimes and ending a phone call and end up with it in my pocket still connected to someone....

Option to use the power button to end a call is a welcome feature in my book :)

That's cool if it remains dormant when on speaker mode. Cuz turning off the screen when on speaker is handy sometimes for me.

If it is disabled while on speaker then you know android is a polished operating system

I was thinking of this as well. What if I go into Recovery mode? I saw an option for "Factory Reset." Does anyone know if this will take you to Sprint DI18 or DI17? If the reset takes you to the version prior to DI18, will it give you the option to update to DI18, or will you have to manually do this update?

I saw this option, but was hesitant in trying it - not knowing what will/may happen.

No It doesn't. It just refreshes the FROYO version.

If you follow the instructions on this page, [How to] Factory Restore (New OSX/Linux Method Added) then it will work! Trust me, I did it on two separate Epic's in the last few days. It doesn't get much simpler than those instructions. Takes under 5 minutes once you have the files downloaded and ready to go.

As 4 STAR GENERAL stated, the FACTORY RESTORE will only do a wipe of all the data on the version you are running. It will not return it to a previous version.

Just make sure on the .md5 file you download you rename/remove the ".md5" from the file name so its file extension is .tar

BTW, if it doesn't work try a different USB port, sometimes those USB ports can be glitchy.

The DK28 build is pretty darn good, with two issues I've noticed. The first is the home screen takes FOREVER to draw the icons/widgets going from landscape to portrait on occasion. (Other times its fine, just sometimes takes what seems like forever...several seconds easy).

The second is that my BT Car-kit doesn't seem to have audio any longer. I can hit the green button to pick-up, but can't hear the calling party, nor can they hear me. Might be that I need to re-pair the two with Froyo or some setting in the Parot car-kit. - Still investigating.

Battery wise, it seems even better than 2.1...now, I was running an under-volt and overclocked kernel with 2.1, which uppped the battery time over stock. I'm on the stock DK28 install, other than being rooted for Titanium Backup and this thing seems fantastic! My meter is still showing FULL and its been off the charger since around 8:45 this morning (now around 5:00pm) and I've had a couple conversations, sms, email and a brief browsing session or two. - Why are others saying the battery life is lower? (Are you waiting to check battery life until AFTER the phone finishes syncing with the mothership? - The Market takes time to sync up the apps that have been restored).

I think this leaked version while very nice is still reacting differently to people. Some people are having alot of troubles, so minor and others are none whatsoever.

Myself only real issue I had was battery life. My GPS worked fine, locked in faster and more accurate than 2.1. Otherwise it was pretty flawless.

As far as showing full battery meter after 8 hours off the juice, thats next to amazing because I have not seen that yet on 2.1 or 2.2 since I got the phone over a month ago. Yes I do run with as much of the junk shut down in task manager as possible and other pgms listed in the app manager.

All I want for Christmas is a official Froyo release. :-)

i updated to DK28 from DI18 and its working fine, the only problem is, that im not rooted anymore. my phone still shows the Superuser app, but when i try to run something that requires root, it says i don't have root access. i rooted with the one-click root method.

i tried to root again using the same method but it failed. it doesn't reboot into clockwork anymore. is there any other methods i should try b4 i just do a factory reset and start over?

I have been very happy with the DK28 update except a few minor issues I have mentioned before. The only thing that is really bothering me is I seem to have network glitches and network speed issues. For example I sometimes have to start and stop my Market downloads several times before it downloads and installs correctly. And also my speeds are VERY slow. The upload and download speeds are stuck at about 30 KB/sec. I used to get very fast download speeds. I don't remember exactly but it was 250 KB/sec or more (I think more). I have not been on here in a few days so I may have missed someone else mentioning this same problem. If anyone has any ideas of correcting this short of Restoring to DI18 please let me know.
