Has anyone upgraded from the Original Galaxy Gear to the Moto360?

Ive had my Gear since last December and am thinking of getting the 360. Would you consider it an upgrade? I know physically the watch looks a lot nicer, but what about feature wise? Are you happier with the 360?

Thanks.

I don't have a smartwatch, but I would have a very hard time trying to decide.
Anyway, I know 2 people who are talking about getting the 360, one of them has the original Gear.

I'm trying to find someone who already has made the swap. Sooooo many people were talking about upgrading before the Moto360 came out, I'd like to hear if there's anything they miss about their gear.

I upgraded to moto 360 from galaxy gear and wouldn't look back. The only thing I miss is the option to talk on the watch itself. I didn't do that often but the option is nice. Other than that, the 360 is far and away a superior watch imo. The square watch didn't fit my wrist as nicely either like the circle one does.

I wouldn't say I upgraded per se. I do own both and I think they both have their strengths and weaknesses. I personally find Android Wear to be 10x worse than Tizen, and that's saying a lot because I'm not overly keen on Tizen. Wear is just suuuuper unoptimized and missing a lot of polish. For instance, I left the default messaging app as my SMS client when I moved to my 360. I'd hit reply on an incoming text and it would just throw up a checkmark with no option to reply. I assumed it was broken, but what was really happening was it was opening the app in the background on my phone. Nowhere would I know this was happening or did it imply it was going to do this. Just silly UX stuff like that which makes Wear not ready for prime time. Right now I wear my Moto all day and switch to my Gear for the gym and sleep.

Pros and Cons:

Moto is "different" which is nice.
Never thought talking on my watch was helpful until I couldn't do it any more on my Moto.
Gear is a much better fitness watch as the leather moto band gets nasty quick with sweat or water
I can quickly archive emails from my watch on my Moto which I can't do on my Gear
I find Samsung Voice to be better than Google Now for texting accuracy
Stupid things like "call Ashley" you would assume would work on Android Wear, don't.
Battery life is 4x as good on my Gear
I don't accidentally activate my Gear whereas my Moto button hits the top of my hand when I bend it while driving

All in all I don't think the cons of the Moto are the watch's fault as much as they are Android Wear's. Tizen is just much more stable and way more optimized for wearables. The watch itself is gorgeous and well built. Feels less "gimmicky" than the Gear but I find myself with much better stability and enjoyment on my Gear.

Thank you for your feedback.

I went to best buy yesterday, and unfortunately they were sold out. I guess it was meant to be, because of course my wife said we really can't afford for me to blow $150 on another gadget (I have someone who wants to buy my Galaxy Gear for $100).

Then a couple hours later I'm browsing the Android Central blog and find out that I was one of the Mobile Nations 15 year anniversary winner. $150 visa gift card towards my next gadget purchase. That with the $100 for my Gear makes my Moto360 free. Could not be more excited. Thank you Mobile Nations!

congrats!

wonder when they will award me for being so honest for so long in these forums....

Just my opinion...but I completely disagree with what but saying here. I had a gear 2 ...risen is stupid and not a good OS....at all! The S voice never worked for me....asking the weather it would work...but not to calk or message or anything. I only used the camera once in w months...quality not that great....it could store music which was cool. Only answered a call once....it was kinda nice to have tho. Bit overall...love the 360/ten times more....BC I love the ability that google now has....and I don't get the stupid weather update 25 a day like I did on my gear 2.....which had google search notifications on it. The gear 2 had some things that were cool...but never used the in real life. Son I switched and have never been happier. My thoughts tho.
