Hi guys, so I am thinking about upgrading from my original Pixel XL to the 6t as it is less expensive than the new Pixel 3 and I can get it through T-Mobile using the black friday deal getting it free.

So I am curious if anyone has gone from the original Pixel XL to the 6t what your thoughts are and if there is anything you miss from your Pixel? I should note that I don't use the camera on my phone for anything important as I have a full frame Nikon DSLR that I use for important pictures.

I came from Pixel 2 xl and really like this phone, screen is brighter, phone is more narrow and taller.

Now with the Pixel camera hack and night shot its a win and a lot less cost.

Miss the dual speaker but not a deal breaker.

That is good to hear. I think I am going to go to T-Mobile tomorrow and make the switch with the deal they have going.

I have upgraded from original pixel. I am so glad that I did , no more lost screen from buttons at bottom of screen . Hated them using valuable screen space . Oneplus 6t so much faster .I did love my Pixel but nothing I miss , this is as much a stock Android experience as the pixel was .

I have to concur. I didn't come from a Pixel, but a friend of mine had the original Plan and just got the Pixel 3 XL, whole I went with the OP6T. He says the 3XL isn't much of an update. He won't admit it, but I think he's jealous.

I'm switching from the Nexus 6P to this; but like the Pixel, the loss of stereo speakers is a huge bummer. I've heard good things about the resonator of the speaker on the 6T though, so hopefully I won't be too bummed tomorrow when it arrives.

So I ended up switching with the T-Mobile black Friday deal. I had the original pixel and it didn't have stereo speakers and I'm honestly not disappointed by the 6t speaker.

I am considering upgrading from the Pixel XL to the 6t, especially since my GPS is starting to malfunction, among the odd occurrance of my bluetooth turning off on its own.

This helps a lot. Thanks for posting this!

Just upgraded from the pixel XL 128mb. Extremely happy with the 6T. I also have a S8+. I was very happy with that performance but did not like the software UI on that.

Anyways, only upgraded because I was tired of charging the XL and the microphone was going in and out of the S8+. I'm not disappointed with any aspect of this phone. I wish it had wireless charging, but that's all. I grabbed an extra case but find the one packaged in the retail box is perfect for daily use.

The camera is extremely important to me and so far they photos are great. Not better than the pixel phones but absolutely good enough to get the kids. We'll see if it stands up to the kids playing sports.

I do have the T-Mobile version and slightly worried about speed of updates.

I just got a 6T coming from a Pixel 2 and while I agree the camera isn't quite as good it's more than usable. Everything else about this phone is way better.

As for updates as long as I get them quarterly and it's stable I'm good. The monthly platform updates weren't always the best on my Pixel 2.

I have the original pixel (smaller version) and frankly I have no disappointments with it except the lack of screen space due to the top and bottom borders. I recently took advantage of the black friday sale on the OP6 given it was $100 less with all models sold out within two days. It has yet to ship and I keep doubting whether I really NEED to upgrade.

For those that have made the switch from the first generation Pixel, is the camera on the OP6 comparable to it or is the original Pixel camera still better? I've heard of this hack for the OP6 to get the google camera app on it, does that make much difference? Though I don't use the camera that frequently it's nice to have the option to have great quality pictures.

Side note, I do not consider upgrading to any other Pixel phones due to the lack of headphone jack. I'm trying to ride this as long as possible until it phases out completely from flagship and even mid-range phones. It's the reason I prefer the OP6 over the 6T. That and I also got used to having a fingerprint sensor on the back.

Look forward to your comments!

I found these camera comparisons on xda

Using the Google camera on the 6t gives me everything I want in a phone. I had 3 hours screen on time and was down to 47% battery life after a day and a half

Edit:

Here's the thread

Thanks, I'll read up on that. Definitely love my original pixel but the OP6 looked to good to pass up at the discounted price.
