I'm considering making a jump from the S7 to the G6 and I'm concerned I may lose some important capabilities in the change. Specifically, camera picture clarity, battery life, and overall UI responsiveness. Has anyone else made the S7 --> G6 jump and have found the G6 to be the same or better in these categories?

Thanks.

For sure you will not lose UI responsiveness going to any latest phone especially from previous gen Samsung phone. Owned the S7 when it was released for few months and saw few stutters/lag when it was new itself, so not sure how it's doing now. But have S8+ now and G6 is going against S8 and ticks many check boxes.

Camera should be great coming from S7 and you will enjoy the dual camera setup.

Battery life will be better than S7, better SoC and bigger battery in G6.

Overall it'll be a nice little upgrade and it'll perform better than S7.

The standard S7, not the edge?

If so, the G6 battery destroys the S7 battery. I couldnt get more than 4 1/2 hours SOT on the S7. 6 1/2 on the G6 consistently.

Camera quality, to me, seems better on the G6 and the wide angle lens is extremely useful. I thought the G6 handled low light motion poorly until I tried an S8+ and found out tht all these cameras handle it poorly. The G6 camera has a more natural and sharp image compared to the Galaxy phones.

If you feel touchwiz is smooth and lag free then you are one of the lucky ones. I just returned the S8+ because of the ever so common samsung lag that I experienced on the s7 edge, flat s7 and s7 active. Ive never had lag on the G6. The only stutter Ive seen is in apps like Twitter when a ton of images are loading while I scroll. It isnt like a freeze or anything but more of a quick reminder that its loading a ton of images.

One thing you have to account for also is build quality. The G6 is not only a great looking phone but its easily one of the most comfortable phones to use. The flat screen is a great welcome after the past couple years of scrambling to find a decent screen protector.

You'll find on here, many of us got the G6, went to the S8 or another phone and have quickly come back to the G6 because its just that good.

Don't use official Twitter app it's garbage. Use Fenix, Flamingo, Talon etc for Twitter and they all scroll, load images, perform buttery smooth on all my devices (G6, S8+ ... Heck even Moto G5+)

Thanks, Ill give some of them a shot. I only use twitter for news and sports info so its never really bothered me.

I have the s7 edge along with the g6 and the g6 camera is amazing!!!

Thanks for everyone's comments. I currently have the Galaxy S7 (not edge) and I've actually experienced no lagging over the last 12 months of owning it. The S7 is actually working great for me, but I'm on the AT&T NEXT program and I usually upgrade to the latest phone after the 1-year mark. I'm considering both the S8 and G6, and I'm a bit nervous going the S8 route because of the comments on red tint screens (which I've seen on video reviews) and the random rebooting. With AT&T the G6 is only $30 US cheaper than the S8, but the S8 comes with 64 GB storage vrs 32 GB on the G6.

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't losing anything moving from the S7 to the G6, so I appreciate everyone's comments. I have yet to see either phone in person, so I plan to visit Best Buy this weekend and check them out in-hand.

Thanks.

I'm glad i bought the G6 and would get it again if presented the option.

With that said, anytime i walk into Best Buy the first thing i see is the S8 and that display. It stands out in a crowd lol As a package i'm happy with the G6.

I prefer the s7 camera by a mile esp in dim light however I only take snapshots and do not utilize the extra features LG offers. I also prefer the 16/9 ratio of the S7 and it has led notifications. G6 has 2/1 ratio if you prefer the long skinny look. jmo

I had the s8 plus and returned it.
First of all the screen was not bright enough, had the pink line on the edge and also its very hard to find a decent screen protector. The size of the phone is ridiculous and in my estimation is not worth the hefty price. Yes it has 64 storage but I put an SD card in for media. I love this lg g6...and wouldn't go back. Its very polished and has an amazing camera...better than I expected. Its professional quality!! When I used the s8 camera I was very disappointed! My s7 edge took better pics!
