Anyone using a Clear View case managed to use Screen Off Memo with it?

A couple of times, with the Clear View case closed and screen off, when I removed the S Pen, the screen off memo screen came up on the case and I was able to scribble a note down, directly onto the the plastic case cover without even opening the case. I thought this was fantastic, but it hasn't worked since. I'm actually wondering if it was a bug now, but I loved it. Has anyone else managed to do this? I've been right through the clear view case settings and AOD settings and tried various combinations, but no joy.
