Anyone using JuiceDefender?

I have been using the free version the past two days now. My battery lasts almost exactly the same amount of time whether I use it or not. I have it set on balanced.

So you are saying that its not working for you?

My impression of the app is that it extends battery life when the device is not in use by shutting down the WiFi/3G radios and turning them on only periodically, rather than leaving it on all the time.

So, if you are using the device for an hour at a time playing games or reading news or streaming music/video, you won't see any real increase.

I know it works great when not in use, as my battery use graph from JuicePlotter is nearly a flatline.

hmmm... very good point...but in this case, any phone would last longer if you simply didn't use it right? I mean who out there doesn't play Wordsmith or check email here and there? Heck i am on Gtalk most of my day... And i have noticed a little increase, but honestly I wouldn't buy the Ultimate version again. Its kind of like a gimmick in a way, i mean its good but its not like mind blowing.

And its very confusing... i am still trying to figure out how turn off 3G and leave it on 1x on my Nexus when screen is off..any one know how?

Sure, any battery will last longer if you don't actively use the phone, but without JD or similar app, the 3G/WiFi radios will run all the time, unless you manually turn them off. And if you turn them off and leave the phone off, you won't get any notifications or email. The app works for you by automating the management of the radios.

I don't know how to force 1x. Would be good to know though, because at my office, my 3G throughput really takes a nosedive around midday into the afternoon. I can't stream music, it really sucks!

I went ahead and un installed it, started to see no difference, sorry.

Maybe I'm crazy but I'm getting better life without it, and phone runs smoother.

I definitely get better battery management with the app. Are you sure you are using the Beta, and not the regular version? Only the beta works with Gingerbreak I think.

Currently, JD can't manage the 4G radio. I did a test earlier, with WiFi on and 4G off, my phone uses virtually no battery when turned off. But with 4G on and the WiFi off, there's a steady drop in battery.

Had the ultimate version.

sorry if this has been addressed somewhere, but what is the difference between Juicedefender - battery saver and Juicedefender beta?

But was it the beta or the standard version? The pro and ultimate or whatever are just unlocked by a code, right? The program is the same, from what I can tell.

the only two free Juicedefenders are -battery saver and -beta. idk if there's a difference between the two, they could be the same, I was just curious as to which one I should actually keep and use.

I'm pretty sure that the beta version is the only one that works with Gingerbread. I had installed the previous version, and after not seeing any improvement in battery life, started searching and found out about the beta version.

I installed JD v3.5.6 just recently. Thus far, the app says it "has increased my battery life by x1.56 in the last 48hrs

Hi guys,
This is Albie from Latedroid, creators of JuiceDefender.

Beta is "JD's laboratory", it is the most frequently updated version, the one where all the new power saving features are tested. For this very reason it can be buggy/instable sometimes, so I recommend using the stable version "JuiceDefender - Battery Saver" instead.

Also, Gingerbread is supported in all versions.

Please do refer to our official channels for any further doubt or technical help - the whole community would benefit from that!
(...Plus we are a super small team and we need to optimize our resources other than battery saving for all Android lovers ;))

Sorry, but i had to uninstall...

Why am i going to pay for 3G or 4G and have some service turn it off? Yes it might save battery but I see as it is also taking away things that I am paying for! Yes they come back on or what not but I really didn't see a difference in battery at all. Then we are already having radio issues with this phone and now you're having them shut off ? To turn them back on it takes a couple of seconds too, and sometimes it gets frustrating. I tried it for 1 whole week and while it gave me a "x1.56" there was absolutely no difference. Sorry folks but if you are buying an Android phone you should know that due to the power they have they will consume a lot of battery.

Example; iPhone hold better battery, but that simple, it doesn't support flash, widgets, push email, gps navigation, etc... same thing for blackberry, now put those things on any phone and i guarantee you it will see a HUGE battery difference! I am ok with it because i know I have a very powerful device so it makes sense.

Its like Android is a Ferrari, and iPhone is a Mustang the Ferrari uses more gas, and heck even way more if you press on the gas at full throttle, but if you drive it right you save more gas as well. Same thing with Android, you just have to now how to manage it.

Use the app, but I have been an Android user since the G1 and really i know how to handle and manage my battery saving features. Therefore I see no difference.

I just installed beta and noticed in the log that it it says "ROM is not compatible with AOSP helper (3g control is unavailable) - get CyanogenMod ;)".

Does this indeed mean it can't control my 3g connections? What ROMs are you guys running that do give it the control it wants?

I don't know what the log line is indicating (I see it too), but it certainly does control the 3G radio. Still been working great for me. Nice to know the phone isn't burning 5-10% per hour when not in use!

I think I found it. It's not about being able to turn 3g on or off, it's for switching between 2g and 3g.

AOSP helper: all you need to know
