Anyone using NFC dots/tags/skip with their new X? Does it work with phone off and locked?

I don't think Skip is really for people with patterns. Patterns are designed to be an easy, but less secure way to lock your phone. Skip seems better for people that use a pin or password. My phone has an 8-digit PIN. Pecking those 8 digits and then hitting enter is a lot of work, but I have put up with it because I know that my phone is secure. I use Skip because tapping my phone to a sticker or clip is much faster and easier than putting in those numbers and then hitting enter.

I have an awesome secret for you guys that will solve your problem (I know, sounds cheesy). Before I bought my Pebble, I did a lot of research and even purchased NFC Unlocker (was a waste of money), in order to find a mechanism to unlock my phone. Then, I finally came across a thread were someone ported the Skip app that is hidden on all Moto X's and is only activated with a Skip clip or dot. Here it is...do a google search for "skip creator" and you can download the app in the first search result, which is an xda thread. Once you install the app, open it, and then you can write any and multiple amount of tags. You can manage them in your settings, under Security and choose NFC unlock. Now that I have a Pebble, it's much easier to just wear my watch and set it as a trusted BT device. It's even faster than using Skip. But for those who aren't into smartwatches, have fun and dig in!

Ummm, my phone (Dev) already allows me to program my own home made Skip.

Your watch seems like a good solution but I tried using my BT headset-thing and it works fine as Trusted BT, - except, if I put it down and walk away the phone will not auto-lock when it gets out of BT range. If I turn the headset on/off the Trusted BT process works fine, but not with losing BT signal. The reverse is also true in that after walking away form the Trusted device and coming back into range, it does not auto-connect again.

The Trusted device system is still in the early stages and needs some work. But, if/when Moto get their act together with Trusted BT then it will make the Skip obsolete.

Skip will NOT use Patterns, just Password or PIN only as it is impossible for it to store the data to make the moves in a 120 or 512 Byte chip.

I mentioned Patterns as that is what I am using INSTEAD of Skip. :)

I'll have to this again but I'm pretty sure that my phone will revert back to using it's regular lock timeout of my Trusted Bluetooth Pebble connection moves out of range.
