Anyone using pixel coming from iPhone?

Re: Anyone using pixel coming fro iPhone?

Honestly 2 things made me ditch iPhone. iOS 10 was a let down for me. We've been swiping to unlock for how many years Apple and you go and change that and almost force force touch on us. I'm not a fan. Secondly, my Honda Accord supports both Android Auto and Car Play and I much much prefer AA. I just wish it played more nicely with Apple Music, which I prefer over Spotify and GPM.

iPhone 7

I don't disagree that the iPhone 7 is fast from a use and benchmark perspective, these were her words to me. She said it feels smoother using apps and swapping between them.

The nit picky benchmarks don't mean much to me when it comes to real world use of any modern and recent smartphone, Only bragging rights.

I came from an iPhone 7 and I have the Pixel. I do feel the Pixel is much snappier. Hands down. IPhone fanboys can disagree all day, but coming from MY iPhone 7 to MY Pixel, the Pixel is faster.

Not to mention that benchmark tests are about as credible as volkswagons emissions test.

This comment really gave me a chuckle. I've never cared about "benchmarks" I'm all about real world and day to day performance.

Re: Anyone using pixel coming fro iPhone?

Aside from saying Ok Google (which irritates me for some reason)

I don't know why but it also irritates me when I say Ok Google... It feels that it takes a lot of energy to say Ok Google especially when it doesn't go thru the first time or the second time, by the third time you are exhausted and prefer to click the mic icon. I don't have a pixel but I do have an android though!

Yeah, I do hope theres the possibility of setting a custom phrase to activate in the future. While it doesn't really bother me, sometimes it does feel like a hassle to say okay google.

I'd still rather be able to double tap or use a long press on the fps to activate.

Re: Anyone using pixel coming fro iPhone?

I have both (Pixel XL & Iphone 7 Plus), and have I used both off and on over the years. The Pixel is pretty much on the Iphone's level now IMO as far as operation with it's hardware and software. In some ways it's almost better. The Iphone since the IOS 7 update hasn't been the same. It's still has that buttery smooth scrolling in most places and apps (not all unfortunately) but it stutters at times closing apps and navigating through the UI.

The Pixel's UI is awesome, and it does it the Android way, with Material design, and cards sliding in and out fast and fluid. It rarely hiccups, and is a really nice experience, it's the best Android experience I've had. I only hope Google keeps this up, and stays with this.

Good stuff. I have an iphone 7+ and really like it. Have had the plus series since 6+ and nexus since the 4. Just sold my 6p and am looming forward to getting my pixel XL in a few weeks!

That is your perspective. That's the beauty of having a choice. To YOU the Pixel is faster. To someone else, the iPhone is faster.

Re: Anyone using pixel coming fro iPhone?

Same here, KillerQ. But I came from a Note7 to iPhone 7 Plus.

Ditto,Coming from N7 to iP7+. This is my 1st iP and it is fast, smooth but too restrictive. I'm on here trying to get as much info to justify a Pixel purchase.

Just buy one and try it for yourself. Return it if you don't like it. You just lose out on shipping. If you're on Version check what their return policy is first.

Re: Anyone using pixel coming fro iPhone?

I'm coming from an iPhone. I consider myself a pretty big Apple fan, as well. However this is the second time an update left my iPhone in less than stellar shape.
My contract was up so I thought I'd try Android. I returned the Z Play I'd purchased and got the Pixel XL.
I'm seriously impressed. I don't know if the Pixel is faster, but it's a wonderful phone. It's smooth and fast and very responsive.
The feel of the phone reminds me of an iPhone so that helps it seem familiar. Plus the Google launcher seems very refined. Like android, but upscale. I also love the personalization.
I just need to get used to the keyboard. I'm making a lot of mistakes.

Yes I do think the iPhone keyboard is the best. I make mistakes too but just keep on typing and it's usually fixed by the end if the word lol. Tennessee Dept. of Transportation?

If anything you can other keyboards as well. I personally love SwiftKey but giving the Google Keyboard another go since getting the Pixel XL.

I agree with you both, the Iphone keyboard is the easiest to use.

Re: Anyone using pixel coming fro iPhone?

I'm also trying to give the Google keyboard a shot. I do like Swiftkey though. I used that for a few days on my Moto.

I tried justifying the Pixel/Pixel XL prices, but I just couldn't, not for the missing features and lackluster AI.

I can certainly understand someone not being able to justify the price of the Pixel or the iPhone or a Galaxy. They are all overpriced in my book. I have bought them all in the last 12 months though. So who am I to judge???

Question though, what is lackluster about the AI compared to an iPhone or a Galaxy phone?

Coming from iPhone 6s+. Being able to turn off animations are the best thing about Android phones. I liked the iPhone but damn, those animations made it crawl.

As posted in another thread :

Iphone 6 user here, My decision to switch to android was fairly simple, I currently had the iphone 6, and the iphone 7 upgrades was very minuscule compared to the 7+ upgrades. I didn't want the 5.5 inch phone I prefer a smaller.

Okay so now on to google, I received my package from google yesterday, I performed the transformation from apple to android with the cords that was provided, very simple, and it allowed me to continue doing other things while the transfer processed in the background. I don't think I put the phone down the entire time, phone is very snappy, smooth, camera is awesome, and it's so many customizing options available that it probably will take me a solid day or two to fully grasp.

I will check back in a day or two, because this could be that honey moon phase, but first impressions coming from iphone 6 is I'm in love. That is all...Have a good one :)

Oh, I do miss receiving high quality videos from friends since they all have apple, I noticed when they send me a video it comes in small an grainy since its compressed, but pictures comes out awesome.
