anyone who just got their phone want to give a first impression?

It sounds like it was sent with the same Os version that the BIONIC has. If that is the case shame on Motorola and Verizon.

Not sure about that. I haven't had a data drop yet and I'm connected to 4G. He said he was in a weaker signal area and maybe 4G by him is the outer skirts of an extended area.

I was having 4g drop to 3g in the same area my charge stayed 4g consistently...but I thought I noticed a pattern. It seemed to switch depending on how fast and how much data needed to be transfered.. It could be a coincidence, but I swear when I kept remembering another app to install and did, it immediately switched to 4g... Could this be possible? The phone switches data type depending on data load?!

Actually i'm almost positive what I said above is the case. As soon as I hit tap a talk it went to 4g. So quickly. it is staying there too.

Re: anyone who just got their phone want to give a first impressi

got my razr today, not experiencing the 3g/4g switch, mine is staying at 4g, held it up next to my wife's bionic and the screen is alot crisper then the bionics, phone is very light, not much faster the the bionic, but overall very nice and not disappointed

Strange, my phone stays on 4G even when it's not using the data connection.

Re: anyone who just got their phone want to give a first impressi

First impressions. At this point it might seemed rushed cuz I have been posting on multiple Android forums today about this damn phone!!!

I like it alot so far. What I like:

Splash guard does work. Had my DX1 in the rain, had to battery pull and wipe screen to use it again. Washing dishes the RAZR got wet from my fingers, hands. Kept working normally. Thats enough of a Splash guard test for me...lol.

Screen is very nice. Havent seen Pentile on the other screens, but its is so subtle on the RAZR, you have to either: 1) have amazing vision, 2) holding it closer than normal IMO. At MY normal viewing distances its barely noticeable to not noticeable.

No lag, fast n quick. Setup went very fast connecting to Google. 3G seems to be better, connect better. Phone is amazingly thin, yet it doesnt feel like its gonna break,

It seems to have better reception than my DX1, which has very nice reception. Speaker is nice n loud. Like that alot. Notification light seems to be nice n bright too.

Camera functions fast, focuses fast.

What I dont like? Screen does get warm. This has come up recently today. Its not all the time, seems to be when downloading, probably when using that cpu, gpu too. Also noticed it when using the GPS and Maps.

Off center it has a tint. It doesnt wash out, which is a con of some LCD screens, but it has a tint to it.

Those are the only cons I can think of. Cant really comment on battery life since I cant seem to let it charge all the way...lol.

I never had or used a Bionic, but coming from a Droid 1 and Droid X1...this is a very nice upgrade. From hardware to UI. First thing my girlfriend said was its so thin. And she knows thin from using my DX1 so much.

In my area Verizon is better than T Mo for 4G. My GF has a Sidekick and it doesnt work in my apt for calls good and speed tests it sucks outside in front of my building. I live n work in a bad reception area, so I need a Moto phone just for the better reception.

Motorola did a great job. The design is gorgeous and it's pretty easy to handle. I like that the screen isn't super bright, yet still looks excellent. The weight is amazing for a LTE phone, I barely notice it in my pocket The kevlar back is a really nice touch too. No complaints at all.

Damn. Then that's weird, BC I'm in a great area for 4g and my charge stayed solid when here.... Boooo

Would this be a bad thing? Wouldnt a good hand off from 3G to 4G actually help battery life? Reception in my apt is bad, but I can get a good 4G signal out front. I might have to test this out.

EDIT: I just tried some things out front. Having GPS on, it interfered with 3G, LTE. Turning that off, I still couldnt get LTE back. I had to toggle LTE, CDMA on and off to get LTE back.

Interesting...lol.

Absolutely. I was about to rave about the phone being super smart because of the hand off

Re: anyone who just got their phone want to give a first impressi

How is the screen in sunlight. I'm not familiar with pentile. Also was wondering those who have unlimited data did your unlimited carry over to this 4G device? One more: Anybody pay full price?

Oh wonderful. Sounds like the same issue that is plaguing the Bionic is in the Razr as well. On the Bionic if you lost 4G and it switched to 3G, you couldn't get 4G back and in most cases....you would lose data connectivity all together as the phone tried to lock into 4G. The only way to get it back is to either do what you did, toggle airplane mode on and off or reboot the phone.

Way to go Motorola.....

Re: anyone who just got their phone want to give a first impressi

WoW, just checked full price on Verizon's site. $650/tax equals around $700 out the door with just the phone. Much as I'd like it, that gives me pause. Ebay's even more$$

Re: anyone who just got their phone want to give a first impressi

I have decent sized man hands, and it seems slippery and a tad large to hold onto one-handed. When being charged, the wire at the top is a pain to work around on the phonecalls...I don't notice bloatware being a problem. I can hide crap I don't want if you can't delete it. The software is much improved all over. It will move pretty easily between 4 and 3, but no biggie. I do seem to be using the battery. It was charged last night, and late this a.m. with pretty mild use, it was down to half! Now I do recall orig. Droid battery took a few days to 'season' I'll call it. But I don't see it charging all that fast, yet, either. In the truck, in fact, with the screen on, I'd say it wasn't charging much at all. But I still love it!

Screen is as good as any in the sunlight, but haven't had much more of an issue than with my OG droid. As far as the data plan goes they didn't change anything on our corporate account so you should be fine.

Not just Moto. My Tbolt (HTC) does something very similar, which is why I'm lurking here. Thought switching to Razr or G-Nex would give me a new lease on data connectivity. Maybe not.

I had a Thunderbolt as well but the differences is this: While the Thunderbolt would flip between 4G and 3G (still keeping data connectivity) the Droid Bionic and it seems the Razr now, will just "give up" and disconnect data all together and it will not return until you do something. So while you will still get your emails on the thunderbolt, you have to babysit the Bionic to make sure that your Data didn't crap out.

Re: anyone who just got their phone want to give a first impressi

I've noticed the phone toggle from 4G to 3G but it switches back pretty quickly. As for when wifi is on, at first the 4G indicator was still showing next to the wifi indicator. Now it only happens sometimes.

Re: anyone who just got their phone want to give a first impressi

I like the Razor so far and notice a better signal than my Droid incredible 2. All in all so far it is very fast and a nice Device. I can't believe how thin it is! If your thinking of getting one I would give it a try.
