AC Question

Hi,

I have owned my Galaxy Note for about a year and have recently noticed that the GPS has a difficult time maintaining my position while it is giving me directions as I'm driving with Google maps. It is sometime really slow to catch up with me where I am at and it often jumps about 100 feet off from where I am at and then it tries to recalculate the directions.

This used to work fine on my phone, but now is having these problems.

I wonder what suggestions you have to possibly fix it.

Could it be that the GPS unit has just gotten old, and can I replace that?

My hunch is maybe I need to replace that after I have tossed my phone on the couch or dropped it a couple of times.

Thanks for your help,
Charlie

Well, there's not a lot you can do to fuss with the GPS receiver to be honest. There's really no firmware to refresh or cache to clear, etc.... If it starts to degrade, then it's losing its ability to pick up enough sats to make a highly accurate reading.

The app GPS Status helps with fixes and runs seamlessly.
On the Note 3, tightening appropriate screws under the cover seemed to cure the issue for several. It may/should get better.
