So I'm in a sort of complicated situation but the jist is this: I bought a 2015 Subaru Outback which has Mirrorlink. The S7 is supposed to be Mirrorlink-capable, but it comes with Mirrorlink 1.1 and the car uses Mirrorlink 1.0, which is a completely different app. Without the old Mirrorlink app, the phone can't be mirrored on the infotainment screen, but it does refuse to display anything but a screen showing "Mirrorlink enabled" when I plug it in to the usb port in the car, meaning not only can I not use the Mirrorlink feature, but I can't do anything with the screen of my phone such as use it to display Google Maps while it is charging from my car.

The Mirrorlink 1.0 app is apparently only available with Android 4.2 or lower, so I'm wondering if there is a way to downgrade my S7 (and any future phones) to the older version of the OS so I can get my navigation back. Thanks!

You can't downgrade the S7 to 4.x. Lowest you can go with the S7 is 6.0.1.

The Samsung Mirrorlink 1. 0 can only run on 4.3 or lower (which you have already noted).

I have a rooted Galaxy Tab with 4.4.2. It has the Mirrorlink 1.0, so I used Titanium Backup to get the apk program backed up.

I tried installing it on my S7 Edge, and it failed. It won't let an older version replace it.

If it makes you feel better, it seems to be a common issue with newer Subarus not working with the Galaxy S5 and newer. Some state they have gotten the S4 working, but in a very limited, buggy state.

Thanks for all the information! Disappointing I won't be able to get it working on the S7, but if the S4 has had some success I may try using my old one and just using mobile hotspot on my S7 to get data to it,
