Anyway to get scratches out of the Galaxy S5 screen? i thought these screens were good?

Re: Anyway to get scratches out of the screen? i thought these screens were good?

yeah toothpaste didnt work, sucks
in no way at all can you FEEL the scratches...they are very light but they are everywhere.....ahh so aggrivating

Put a screen protector on it. That should hide the scratches.

Got a few tiny scratches on the glass in the first few weeks. I find this odd, as I've never dropped it and have been careful with it. My S3 never scratched this easily. Very weird...

You scratched Gorilla Glass? How? I've never seen a scratch on a Samsung phone before.

The scratches you see aren't to the gorilla glass itself, but the anti fingerprint layer in top of the gorilla glass.

I never heard of such a thing..thanks!

If you cannot live with the sight of the scratches then try an anti glare screen protector. You might get a slight rainbow on certain pages but the light scratches will be invisible and you will get no more. I scratched my Droid RAZR Maxx 2 years ago 1st week on keys. Thought I would have to replace screen due to ocd with scratch. Someone suggested anti glare protector. Worked like a charm.

When I bought my s5 at best buy I also purchased an otterbox commuter TV at comes with a screen protector ( best buy had no screen protectors in stock) so I figured I could use the one that came with the case I purchased... Moral to this long post: use a cheap screen protector if it's all you can find... Then order which one you want

I have had my phone since release. No screen protector or anything. Not a scratch on the screen

Had 2 HTC Droid Incredibles over the past 4 years never a scratch on the screen have a case on it and keep it in a belt holder. Had the S5 for less then a month and I see scratches. Weird part is if I clean it really well they are gone for a bit but come back in the same spots.

My first s5 also had a scratch on it (I ended up exchanging) after just 2 days and I'm being freakishly careful with it until I could get protector on it, but sure enough best buy guy said it already had one when he was putting screen protector on for me. So I totally believe you!

How did u exchange it if it had a scratch ? My s5 has a scratch same day I got it and I didn't do anything to it was gonna get screen protector tomorrow I didn't put anything on it nothing touched it except my finger . Never happened to my s4 and I had to wait days to get the screen protector. Will they take it back if it has a scratch ?

My old droid 4 dont have a scratch on it
This s5 has multiple light scratches all over the screen.....how is a 3 yr old phone resistant to scratches better then this?
I havent dropped the phone once, this must just be from my keys or change in a pocket? Phone is a month old and the screen looks terrible is there anything to use to try to buff them out?

direct sunlight is when you see them the most

I have used toothpaste on my old Nexus 4 screen and it worked pretty well. A screen protector will cover scratches pretty well too. But honestly...try toothpaste. Get a soft cloth damp put a bit of toothpaste on it and rub in a circular motion. Wait for the toothpaste to dry and use a soft cloth to remove it.

From experieince, toothpaste works well for small scratches. Not the gel toothpaste, but simply white.

Car waxes work extremely well! But I only do so when I plan on also waxing my car, unless you can find a small sample type bottle, or borrow a dab from a friend. I've even seen people go into Wal-Mart and open a bottle of wax and do it right there in store.... To each his own I guess.

I've HEARD baby powder and a bit of water works, but I've never tried it. And honestly, I really question it.

There are other methods but the first 2 have always worked for me with pretty much no problem at all and very little hassle or work.

What about plain rubbing alcohol? I've removed scratches from screen protectors with alcohol, but not the glass itself...but it's def worth a try. :)

I too never had too much of an issue with scratches on my S3 without a screen guard. My new S5, however, is ridiculously prone to scratches. I don't put keys in the same pocket as my phone either.

Mate. It is very difficult to scratch a gorilla glass 3. Keys, knives wont cut it. Gg3 is like Sapphire, 1 level below diamond density.
Only thing that I can think of that might have caused your screen to scratch is sand grains. If you have sand grains in your pocket. That will definitely scratch the screen. Not even diamond will withstand nasty sandgrains..

If it is a Verizon Phone, you have 14 days to return it .. not sure of the other carriers.. For a scratch, I would think you would have had to notice it when you bought it and complained then.. If you leave and come back complain about it they might say "How do we know you did not scratch it after you left"?
Check to see if it is within your carriers return period. You might get lucky.. nad if you do get a new phone.. I strongly recommend spending the 3-5 bucks and get screen protectors. It is soo worth it.

Comes with the territory of not using a screen protector sometimes they will get scratched. That's still not enough to make me ever use a screen protector though but that's just me. I'll deal with a few minor scratches

Not to rain on the parade in here, but questions about how the OP scratched the phone and recommendations of ways to prevent scratches aren't helping. Prevention methods are only helpful before the phone is scratched, and expressing surprise that the OP is seeing scratches is helpful in 0 universes.

The question is about how to repair or otherwise conceal the scratches that naturally seem to appear on S5 screens. So far, we have a recommendation for toothpaste. I've heard that one, too, but I haven't tried it. Are there any other recommendations?

Has anyone actually tried toothpaste? What's the screen like, afterward? I imagine the effect is filling in the little grooves in the screen's coating material, then drying clear, so that the effect is less erratic reflection of sunlight at the scratch site. Yeah?
