AOKP Milestone 5 Themes

Its been a while (a long while) since I've used a different ROM so I have two questions.
Will flashing a theme wipe my data? Also, are the themes in Theme Chooser compatible with AOKP?

No, Flashing a theme will not wipe your data, however if you flash a theme in CWM you will not be able to revert back, so do a nandroid before you flash just in case you decide to change it later. You should always wipe cache and dalvik before you flash a theme for good measure.

and Yes, there are theme chooser themes available for AOKP, however M5 does not have the theme chooser built in, for that you need to be on B35 or B36.

On a separate thought, with the theme chooser becoming mainstream, I find it disturbing that the the theme apks on the play store are becoming pay only. I'm not a cheapskate, but a dollar for each theme starts to add up. Kind of a downer.

Yup, I'm on Tapatalk2 :)
Agree, I change themes a few times a week and mod them. (Soft keys, soft key background and other Photoshop stuff) sucks that every thing is starting to head to the play store and cost money. I guess it is time to start shelling out money, can't live with one color or look for to long. Or I gotta learn to make my own themes, but I spend to much time with this phone already.

Thanks for the tips!
One more question. If I'm on M5, I can use the Theme Chooser from the Play store right?

This I dont know. If you dont really feel like flashing to a newer AOKP version it would be worth checking out.

The newest AOKP rom has an updated kernal, and I dont know if its that or not, but since flashing b36 from M5 my phone is SO much smoother with everything I'm doing, and all my settings are the exact same as they were in M5, I also havent tried Franco's tho either.

I'm currently on aokp milestone 5 can I get the theme Chooser? Or do I have to jump to build 26?

Also why does it go from build to milestone to build?

I'm on Franco right now. I don't have any complaints.
Can I dirty flash the newest AOKP over M5?

I'm not sure about your first question, I've been wondering the same thing.

But from what I know, Milestone means a version that is absolutely 100 percent stable. The nightly builds may have new features implemented but may also have bugs.
For instance, one of the newer builds has Theme Chooser built in whereas M5 does not.

How do you add themes to the theme Chooser? And is there a hot pink or purple theme for b36

Davey,

Can you drop box me a few themes you would recommend?

You can download themes from the market. Just search for "cm9 themes."
Once installed, they will show up in the Theme Chooser.

That's the easiest way.

I think I just said that. Haha

I realized! If you go over to Xda forums, they have a list of themes you can flash without theme chooser.
Just look in the Verizon Android development section under the Galaxy Nexus section.

How do I install a theme that I downloaded in the market through recovery?

All the themes on the market are apk files. They get installed with the theme chooser.

Yup, I'm on Tapatalk2 :)

Themes from the market need to be applied with Theme Chooser. Those themes use the theme engine and don't work the same way as the .zip themes which you flash like a ROM.
