AP Mobile constantly using data!!

Wow!!!!!!!! So glad I read this thread. I just downloaded data manager and what do you know! AP Mobile is there sucking up data! I have 20 days left in my billing cycle and I've used up 444 MB of data already!! Are we sure a fix is coming for this? If not I'm rooting my phone this weekend(I'm new to Android and rooting, so I need tons of time to read up on it before I actually do it)

There is a dood in this thread somewhere who claims to work for AT&T and said a fix is in the works and coming soon.

He also made all the claims about the Skyrocket and was spot on. So he's a lucky guesser or he knows what he is talking about.

If I was on a 200 MB plan I would be beyond ticked right now about this issue. I wonder how many will be paying overage changes on their Oct bill and have no idea they did not actually use the data. I really have a hard time understanding why a fix for this issue is taking so long. Bigger issue is why AT&T would make this app uninstallable.

Man I am so glad that I saw this post. I know I've already stated this but I really am! I wasn't really using Wi-Fi because my router is kind of on it's way out and it requires me to restart it at least twice a day. So I just stuck to using HSPA+. Well after seeing how much data this app has used already, I've plugged in my router again and am now constantly on Wi-Fi at home and at work. I hope ATT fixes this issue quickly!

Have you done the set AP mobile to 3 hour updates?

Its tied to another widget so if you do the system reboot and open other widgets it will come back again.

I have had 2 SG2's and havent had this issue at all. I also dont use any facebook, weather, or any type of data widget.

Let me encourage you to try rooting - don't be afraid, it isn't that hard to do - just follow ALL instructions exactly and you'll be fine. UnNamed ROM works just like TouchWiz but without the bloat and with some improvements. You will be very comfortable with it.

Once rooted you can delete AP Mobile (if the ROM chef left it in - depends on the ROM). BTW, another huge data hog is the Facebook app. If you are on the 200mb plan, I recommend using a web browser to check Facebook instead of using the app.

One last thing: My Data Manager has been mentioned earlier in this thread - it is great app. You cahn set it to tell you when you hit certain data usage levels - that will help you "plan ahead". Just open the app, hit Menu - Settings. Then under Mobile, put in your Plan Settings and then set up Notifications (I have mine set for 75mb, 125 mb and 175 mb). It works great.

My daughter has a Samsung infuse and I don't know if this is the issue you are referring to but she goes over her data on a daily. We got her phone in 6-2011 and the first week overage after overage. Had it replaced. New phone same issue. Did master reset was told she could have no apps. Same issue. Phone replaced again after that same issue. I have her in my iPhone 3GS and no overage messages. I've been fighting with AT&T for months. They are offering to give me $100 off a new phone. & remove $130 in overage fees ( 2 Mons worth) yeah that's right $130 in data overages in 2 mons. Oh and did I mention we took the plan from 2g to 4g per their advice. I'm not satisfied with that. I paid 199 for the infuse. I will attatch my notes that I just started taking this past month to show overage patterns.

From nov 17-the 28th she had no internet connection. Called nov @ 415 pm 28th and they turned it back on. She had no internet after raising her data plan to 4gb. Nov 28th @ 9pm 90% of data plan.Nov. 29th had phone reprogrammed@ 845pm. 3 hours later 100%over data charge $10
Dec 3 100% of data used. Being billed extra $10
Dec 5th 100% over data billed $10
Dec 6th had phone replaced for the second time since she upgraded to it.
Dec 8 - 1030 am went over data being charged $10
Dec 8- 12pm went over data again being charged $10
Dec 9th started using iphone3gs at 8 am

This is how it's been for 6 mons at the very least. I'm so over this & that they don't take responsibility and make it right

Wow, I can't believe how many people are having problems with AP. It's terrible.:( Root and freeze it with Titanium Backup Pro. Freeze all the other bloatware at the same time. It's great not having junk eat up my data. I'm so glad this thread got started because it's the reason I never launched AP to begin with, so I never had a problem. Root Root Root Root Root :D

After updating to 2.3.6, I closed my AP mobile widget entirely, and it used NO data so far (about a week) - I think they fixed it, finally. Can anyone else confirm?

2.3.6 definitely fixed AP data usage for me. Have used 0 since even with the widget on a screen but set to Never Update
