I just downloaded the apex launcher for the nexus 7. among other things, it allows the home screen to rotate.

I wanted to use it but the play widget that shows yr library doesn't work. Is that normal?
I love the play widget. :-(

It took me two installations but I too love Apex Launcher. The first time I installed it and, of course, after setting everything to my liking Chrome would not display any pages. Very odd but I could see it loading and then finish but the pages were always left blank.

Not knowing what to do I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and problem solved. So if you're having problems with AL maybe try doing that.

Other than being able to rotate the home screen I also like that you can adjust (remove) the margins and that the icons are smaller. Very cool app and possibly a must for N7

With either Nova or Apex launchers do you see any noticeable battery drain?

I don't think you need to be to concerned this thing has great battery life. You can always try them and uninstall if you don't like.

I was using ADW EX until I hosed my system and had to wipe and reinstall I found a tiny hitch when going to apps page but the orientation worked. I will likely try again

Custom launchers like Apex, Nova and ADW is the best way for a non rooted or rooted user to customize how they interact with their device. Its not for the faint for heart though as the options are extensive and require time to understand their capabilities.

Things like removing dock divider, transparent app drawer, scroll effect, scrollable dock, gestures like swipe up or down to hide/show dock, landscape for home screens are some of my favorites but there are hundreds more.
