Apex Launcher - Why are the widgets about 10 - 15% smaller?

I have a stock Razr Maxx with ICS and I recently downloaded Apex and planned to use it as my launcher. I like everything about Apex with one exception - the widgets are about 10 - 15% smaller than they appear on the stock launcher.

It appears to affect all of the widgets but it's really noticeable on the Verizon Data widget and the News and Weather widget. If I had to guess, it appears the widgets on Apex are at a higher resolution and that's why they're smaller. Frankly, I don't care about the resolution, I just want to be able to read the information that the widget displays.

Is there a way to make widgets bigger on Apex? Would a different "theme" help or would I still have the same problem?
