Hello,

I create that thread to present you Magnetometer Metal Detector a free application letting you to measure magnetic field with your smartphone and tablet. Magnetometer Metal Detector is freely available on Google Play Store : https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...ls?id=com.ssaurel.magnetometer&token=mvBx84ie .

You can discover Magnetometer Metal Detector in action on Youtube :

Magnetometer Metal Detector helps you to detect metal objects (steel, iron) around you. When a metal object is near to you, the magnetic field level will increase. Note that gold, silver an copper coins cannot be detected since they are classified as non-ferrous metal and so, they have no magnetic field. A Gauge helps you to see the magnetic value that is also displayed in textual mode. The magnetic value is presented in µT (Microtesla). A graph shows you also the recent magnetic field activity.

Usage of Magnetometer Metal Detector is really simple. Open the application, and move it around you. Don't forget to calibrate your magnetic sensor before using it. If you want to know how to use the application, click on the Demo Video available from the main menu.

Note that the application requires a magnetic sensor on your smartphone or tablet to work correctly. If you don't have a magnetic sensor, Magnetometer Metal Detector won't work on your device.

A pro version with no ads is also available on Google Play Store : https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...d=com.ssaurel.magnetometer.pro&token=v2ynvKHB

Don't hesitate to contact me if you have feedbacks or ideas to improve Magnetometer Metal Detector. I plan to make a tutorial learning you how to create a Magnetometer on Android. So, stay in touch :).

Thanks.

Sylvain

Even though this app is interesting. Eyes are more than enough to differentiate between a metal and non-metal objects :P
But nice one for sure I will try it.

Thanks for your comment. The tutorial showing how to create this application will be also interesting I hope :)

That sounds good.
I don't think that the app will replace the traditional pin pointer metal detector.
For example , this one for sale is a fully water proof which the app can't do.
