App Drawer no clock

I updated my Pixel 5a to 12 yesterday and no issues but one major annoyance.

When I'm in a game or app and I need to check the time I would always do a quick swipe up (even a partial swipe up) just to float the current app so I could see the clock behind it then fall back into my game.

For some reason on Android 12, when I'm seeing the app drawer the clocks not visible. :(

I assume there is no setting for something so specific, is it just me or is this a change in bahavior?

Info:
Android 12 (sp1a.210812.015)
Pixel 5a
Nova Launcher (if that matters)

When you pull the notification shade down the time also goes away. It's a littl annoying.

Not making turning the wifi off a two step process annoying, but annoying nonetheless.

More tests and background.

First I didn't mention I use gesture nav rather than buttons.

Also it seems to only be an issue when going to the app drawer takes me to the "screenshot" gray background screen for app drawer

I just mentioned it to my son who (of course just scoffed and) said pull down from the top. I didn't know about that so I'll just have to change my ways.

You got that right. Wonder if they will fix this in an update, but then again, from my experience there are a lot of other things that need fixing; at least on my 4XL.

The clock only shows up when you bring down the full Quick Settings panel. So a workaround for now would be to swipe down all the way with 2 fingers.
