I started developing in early 80's... With a Vic20, at first, then with a c64 (and Amiga, and PC and so on...). At the beginning I neither had a casset driver, nor a disk driver. I used to copy code from magazines, debug it, play for a few minutes and... turn off my computer (just like a mandala). I always has been surprised looking what a good programmer could do with few resources, and I used to have posters made with a dot matrix printer... Now, I'm 42, and gain my daily bread developing... Some kind of nostalgia is obvious...
