App keeps opening everytime it updates

I currently have a Note 9 with the latest updated software and have had this problem persistently for a while now. Everytime the text now app I have installed on my phone updates, it automatically opens itself, licking me out of whatever I'm currently doing at that moment in time. This is very annoying if I'm watching a video and especially playing a game, does anyone have any way to fix this?

Seems like your problem is with the app; I suggest contacting the developer for a solution.

No, it's actually a very well received app in the app store and I've been using it for a whole on other phones, it's only until recently that's its started to do this.

Apps get updated. The ad server gets hit. Reviews are not always reliable. Paid apps are safer and don't rely on ads for service. It happens. And sounds like this one is.

Google is trying to weed out faulty apps. What you're describing is faulty. Obnoxious at least. Not normal.

What help to go to Google, developer, use feedback and even with us be specific. What us this app that you think is safe to use? And if there is an app you use, support it by buying paid pro version. Apps are cheap.

I see at least two apps with "text now" in the title.
What are these apps supposed to do for you?
They look cheesy, too me. Like something that would be riddled with ads.

For that particular app, turn off Auto-Update. Go into the store, go to My apps & games, choose Installed and find your app. Click on it and on the info page for that app click the three-dots button in the top right-hand corner.

Uncheck the box for "Enable auto update". This will keep the app from automatically updating. You will be able to see that it has an update and choose when you want to install the update vs it interrupting what you are doing.

I do agree with others - something wrong with the app with what it is doing, but this may be a workaround until they fix it.
