Sometimes my extended battery gets quite hot (especially when charging but sometimes when not charging.). At what temperature would you say it is too hot? Is there an app that will alert me if battery is "too hot"? I'm all set for apps that tell me about voltage, health, and temperature but none alert me when to stop charging or even shut down due to heat.

When on charger or in its holster I wouldn't notice if overheating.

Thanks!

Battery Monitor Widget.

not sure what is considered damaging. I think I recall someone mentioning 145F, but I'm not sure on that.

The spec written on the back of the battery says maximum operating temp is 140 degrees F. I don't know of an app that will alert on it though. Although there are tons of apps that will display it. Including the built in TBolt menu system.

'Course, you could just figure when overheat icon comes up on the notification bar it is too hot. That one is built in. It's in the manual I believe.

Of course I hope for one that would alert me BEFORE it's so hot it should be shut down. If 145 is max an alert at 125 would be nice. If the phone were in my hand I would know it was hot. I'm concerned when it is in the holster or charger.

What else are you doing while charging to cause the battery temp to go so high? It usually gets crazy hot when I'm charging and using navigation.
I would be concerned if the phone is holstered and the temp went up.

I've had the temp go up when my work email server went down. I've also had the phone get hot when on the edge of 4g coverage area. I push several email addresses and weather apps and 3 calender apps so they may contribute. I also listen to streaming radio through bluetooth sometimes.

I just checked the settings on Battery Monitor and it has options to alert you whenever the temp hits whatever you set it to.

Hi, i have had the same problem. There is an app called Cool Down Phone that shows you the current temperature and tries to cool your phone down when it gets too hot. The app tells you when your phone is too hot as well. I think anything over 110 degrees is too hot.
