App Updates

Sometimes when I update some apps from the Playstore I have one or two app shortcuts deleted from my screens. I have had this happen with other phones. What's the deal?

Do the app shortcuts that are disappearing belong to apps that were just updated? This can sometimes happen with a relatively major update to the app.

That's what I thought. I'm not sure this is the case. I will have to check it again when this happens. Thanks for your input.
