Just finished publishing zMooth gesture app in android market, it will allow you to use gestures to mimic back, home and menu hardware keys.

I wrote this app to be unobtrusive by using minimum amount of screen space but at the same time be very easy and intuitive to use. If you use for couple of days you will understand how easy it is to use.

after you install the app you will see a blue area at the bottom of the screen, swipe left on this area to go back, swipe right for menu and gesture a up-arrow(^) for home. try using different gesture length and speed, it is very sensitive at default settings, you don't have to do complete swipe and arrow symbol, just a small quick gesture will work.

Note: This app requires a rooted android 2.2+ device.

I tested it on HD2, if you have any issues please report here

I like it so far, will you add the possibility of more gestures? I would also like the option to reposition/resize the gesture space. Otherwise, it's a really great idea!

Another issue I'm having: on my CM7 nook color after a certain amount of time gestures stop working and I'm forced to disable and then enable zmooth to get them to work again.

Just bought the pro version, really like using it and hope you continue to develop it. I haven't had the start/restart problem since shortly after I installed it so i think that part is solved. It's great for a tablet where the buttons are often out of easy reach or nonexistent (nook color)

With the Nook Color, I'm not able to find this in the Android Market, and tried using the apk from my HTC Aria, but it comes up with a parsing error.

Any suggestions on how to install this on a Nook Color?

what android version is the Nook running?.

This app should come in Nookie Froyo. It transforms a rooted 2.2 Nook. It's much slicker than SoftKeys. It doesn't have quite the options or functionality of SoftKeys but for basic Home, Back, and Menu navigation (and Search w/Pro) it's kicks butt.

I initially had some issues with some of the gestures not working which I think I traced to a Superuser issue but since then it's been rock solid and I don't know how I managed without it.

I reduce the height to the minimum so it doesn't interfere with the space bar when using the keyboard but I can still easily make my gestures.

The Pro version does get you some nice UI tweaks, but even if your happy with the Lite version, skip a 1/4 of a Starbucks coffee ;) and spend the $1.19 to go Pro and support Raj (SimpleMobDev) so he can continue to develop this app.

just FYI, the option to move zMooth gesture area is under development.

Even though Raj hasn't mentioned it, I see the Pro version now has this added, which is a nice touch.
