The colour of chat bubbles is only an issue in the USA.

I text people who use Android or Apple devices and not once has anyone complained about it.

The reality is that Google doesn't support RCS, it supports Google Messaging which is built on RCS. Apple is supporting the GSMA standard RCS. It was noted that RCS isn't new, it has been around since 2008. It is also noted that it is not supported by a number of carriers to this day. It is not a ubiquitous standard. It is incumbent on Google to drop the enhancements that make their product incompatible with the standard, or work with the standards body to have their enhancements incorporated into the standard, for free use. One of those enhancements is message encryption. That's why the bubbles are still green in RCS on iOS. To indicate to the user they are not communicating over a secure channel.

Apple has nothing to be ashamed of. Let’s be clear. Most iPhone users don’t care about the crappy green bubble user experience for Android users. Most iPhone users interact with other iPhone users. The iMessage experience is still way better than RCS.

Apple providing RCS is little more than throwing a bone for Android users. Trust me, iPhone users don’t want to interact with Android users if they don’t have to. The RCS standard doesn’t have encryption. Sure, Google has a hack for Android to add encryption, but that breaks down when they interact with others on a different platform. Meanwhile, Apple is using PQ3 Quantum safe encryption.

Apple with Android users were never encrypted to begin with so even if RCS at beginning stages are not encrypted hopefully Android and iPhones texts can be higher resolution with pictures and videos than before.

See Andy, here’s the thing. If iPhone users really cared about RCS, they would have been up in arms about Apple not supporting it. The only people crying about it are Google, so they can mine more of your information, and whiny tech bloggers looking for views. RCS messages are routed through Google’s servers unencrypted, and Google says they delete them as soon as they’ve been forwarded. …after they’ve already had a look at the contents I’m sure. Why else would they be pushing so hard for RCS adoption? They certainly dont care about green bubbles.

It is about time but Google needs to be equally ashamed for not opening RCS API to 3rd parties. Doesn't even need to be the encrypted RCS, they can keep that proprietary but let other apps use RCS already

Google shows they DO NOT CARE about messaging by failing to add RCS to Google Voice.
