Application Data Space Low

Just curious, how much phone memory do you have?

Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk

I currently have 469mb of Phone memory free. Before when I had the issue, I had about 420mb, I think. I had over 400mb, for sure.

The problem is that one of your apps is using more data space than it should. Basically, if you use Dolphin Browser, move the cache to the SD card. Also, clear the data for any news apps, comic strip apps, etc. that you may have (these are always the biggest culprits for me, particularly the NYtimes app). It usually goes away after doing that. If not, delete your facebook data (which really doesn't affect anything) and really the data for any other apps that update a feed constantly. That should do it.

Yeah, I've tried clearing everything and the error always comes back. I've tried facebook, twitter, yahoo fantasy, mail, etc...

I've cleared both the cache and data on apps.

i have this issue also!!!! its so annoying. right now i am not able to get the message to clear! i have deleted all my text messages and removed apps! i think it might be the memory card! i never had this issue when i had a 16g memory card in. but then that got corrupted. so i had to downgrade to the 2g that came with the fone! aaagggggg help someone!

Low Memory

I have to join the crowd with as I have the same problem. I have plenty of phone memory, yet still get the message. I clear out the cache and data from my apps and that seems to take care of things for a week or so ...then it ultimately returns.

If it's a software issue with HTC issue as has been posted here...why no fix?

What apps seem to be the main culprit? I can not seem to isolate any one app.

Thanks

I gave up and went with a non HTC ROM. We will see how it goes.

I really wish HTC would address this issue. Oh well, maybe they will with the Gingerbread update, although you think they'd have done that with the November OTA.

thanks to yuenm from the HTC forums for this:

"I found a good program that helps you sort by System Data size. Go to the Market and download the free "Quick System Info PRO".
Once downloaded, go to the Applications tab. Go to Preferences and have it do a Primary Sort by Data Size in Descending order. Give it a few seconds to load all your apps and get all the info it needs. Now you can easily look at what's taking up so much of your cache."

see if that helps anyone. you can also sort by cache size. i'm on a non-HTC ROM now so not sure, but this might be a good resource for others.

Well, I take it back. That didn't help anything. I have tons of free space everywhere:

SD Card: 4 GB free
A2SD: 132 MB free
Internal Storage: 502 MB free
System Storage: 42 MB free
System Cache: 132 MB free
Memory: 114 MB free

So, I guess it's just a bug.

It's very frustrating. I eventually ended up going through and deleting every application I don't use at least three times a week. I haven't seen the issue since, and I really don't even notice a difference that those applications are out of my life.

one of those apps must have been doing something silly, but I'll never know which one.

Deleting apps is ridiculous on this phone. Shouldn't have to do it.

Same problem here. Add me to the list! I was able to get the messages to go away for now. With over 700MB of phone storage and only using about 200MB, we shouldn't be having this problem at all.

Does anyone else notice that when you get the "Low Space Warning" that GMAIL doesn't sync?

I have the same exact problems as everyone else. Last time the message instructed me to delete my email accounts and the re-install them.
The message hasn't come back yet ...2 days.

Still it's ridiculous that we have to do this with the DInc and loads of phone memory and storing most apps on the SD card

Come on HTC, send out a patch for this, or is the patch called Gingerbread?

Been having the same issues as everyone else. VZW told me that they wanted to perform a factory reset and I told them no and to patch me through directly to HTC which they did.

Spoke to the girl at HTC whom was very nice and she told me that HTC is aware of the issue and they are working on a software update to resolve it. She said that the phone is currently misrepresenting the available memory, hence the confusion. I won't hold my breath...

I did however delete the data on Facebook per her suggestion which had grown to be quite large and that god rid of the error for me. It's frustrating because we shouldn't have to monitor our apps like this.

me too

This sucks. I've got 1.38gb avail on SD card, 3.84gb avail on internal phone storage and it is still giving me this message, despite uninstalling a few apps, a soft reboot, and a hard reboot.

Anything else anyone can think of?

a new phone...?

I'll be on my 3rd Incredible as of this afternoon. On top of the Damn app space low error, my phone is constantly going into power cycle hell. If this 3rd one doesn't work well, they are doing an early upgrade to whatever phone I want so we'll see...

I was able to get the messages to go away. I cleared my email cache, moved some apps and other data around to balance my storage between the SD card and the phone, removed some apps that I don't really use, and maybe a couple of other things. It's been about a week and they haven't come back, yet.

The only problem that I've been having since is that some of my apps won't update and I get a message that says "Sorry, there's not enough space to install this item." I haven't had much trouble installing new apps, but those so far have all been maybe 1MB each in size. I only seem to be having troubles updating. I supposedly have 970MB free on the card, 4.86GB free on the internal phone storage, and 503MB free in phone memory. These problems may or may not be related to the original low memory message issue even though it isn't currently showing up on my phone.

I'm anxious to at least get some sort of official software update that acknowledges and fixes this problem, but like Limjelo I'm not going to hold my breath.

ok I was just on the phone with HTC (866-963-0953) support and he walked me through a couple of things to clear the message out:

1. Go to browser, Menu --> More --> Settings. Clear out cookies, cache and history. Soft reboot (turn phone off and back on). When I did this, suddenly a bunch of tweets came through, none had come in since last night.

2. Go to Menu --> Settings --> Applications --> Manage Applications. Clear data out of apps that access the outside world (email, twitter, etc - I don't use facebook so that wasn't an option for me). I cleared data from Maildroid, biggest culprit at about 65MB. Rebooted, and voila, no "low on space" message! Note that this does blow away all your mail and mail settings, but if you keep them on the server (Yahoo), you're good. I'm good. Whew, that was annoying.

Funny thing is in Menu, Settings, SD & Phone Storage, my numbers are exactly the same as above... so not sure where it was getting that my application data space was low. PITA.
