Apps constantly running and reopening

I rooted Froyo to my Moto Droid, but I've noticed that since I installed it, a lot more apps seems to be constantly running (which may be entirely coincidental). I have Advanced Task Killer Free and I have it set to kill apps every 30 mins. Before Froyo, there'd be be 2-4 apps running. After Froyo there's 7-12 running all the time. Is there some way to not have apps constantly loading and reloading? I'll kill the apps and the same ones will start back up again within 5 mins.

Look at what's using your battery under Menu, Settings, About Phone, Battery Use. If those apps that are appearing don't show up in the list (which they don't), don't worry about it.

Also, don't use a task killer to indiscriminately kill apps. That does more harm than good. A task killer is best used as a scalpel, precisely.

Search the forum. This exact post has been posted 100's of times. The response is always the same: using a task killer to stop apps is stupid. Constantly checking the running processes is likewise stupid. Worrying that an app is seemingly running is stupid. Bottom line, its normal, let the processes run as idle, there is absolutely nothing wrong.

First off, isn't if a little harsh to call anything stupid? While all those things might seem unnecessary to you, they might not to someone else. Example, using cm6 RC 2 with ADW, I've found that acore bloats and does not release memory; a force close of ADW drops acore's RAM footprintfrom 30+ back down to 18-20.

Not monitoring the running processes would mean never finding that.

@OP - If you are noticing performance issues, I would first try disabling your task killer for a few days as they do interfere with the natural order of things in Android.. If you still have problems, then start looking at your running processes and see what is running that you can do without.

Thanks, I didn't even think to check battery usage. Turns out that those background apps don't seem to be using up battery, so I guess I don't actually have an issue.

I appreciate all the helpful info.
