Apps crashing

Lately, serval apps on my phone have crashed for no apparent reason. Additionally, the system UI also crashed, but that happened only once.

System software is up to date. Apps which have crashed include the Verizon text message app and an app for my local movie theater are up to date.

Have you tried a simple power off > clear system cache & reboot?

I've restarted the phone, but the apps still periodically crash. In one instance, I was trying to troubleshoot why all calls were defaulting to the speaker phone. I turned the phone off and back on then placed two test calls. After that, the system UI crashed.

Today when at a movie theater and opening that app, it crashed and I had to reopen it again.

The last day I've had some apps crash, including the Google photos app and swipe pro, a Facebook wrapper app. I've cleared app cache and system cache partition but no improvement yet.

Only one I've seen was Facebook but it was also crashing on my brothers Nexus 5X and my sister's Galaxy S8.
