Im using Huawei Nova 3i running on Android 9.0. I got this problem a couple hours ago and nothing I did could ever fix it.

All my recent and not so recent activities like apps and settings windows are stuck in the task manager (recent tasks) and would not be cleared like this (https://iili.io/JunKZX.jpg).

I dont believe I did anything to cause this problem seeing as I didnt change any settings anywhere or install any new apps. I tried a couple of things like rebooting, shutting down, clearing cache and clearing physical memory but none of that worked for me.

I should also mention that Huawei has a private space feature which kind of creates another space in the phone which has its own apps and files and the problem is only in the main space.

Welcome to Android Central! Just to clarify -- you're saying that if you tap the garbage can icon, nothing happens at all? Or does it initially clear, but when you go back to the Recent Apps/Overview, everything shows up again?

If I tap the garbage icon or clear them individually they initially disappear then show up again when I go back.

Yes, the same apps stuck from the normal mode show up in the safe mode like this (https://ibb.co/4TZkDf3). When I press on any of them nothing happens and when I clear them they just show up again as in the normal mode.

Surprisingly everything still works just fine in the private space as I mentioned before.

Btw that safe mode tutorial seems to be outdated as it didnt work for me. I had to enter to the recovery mode first by pressing power and volume up then choosing the fourth option which was safe mode.

If it happens in Safe Mode, then it may just be how the firmware works now (if it wasn't happening before). Did you get any recent system updates?

I had the phone for about two years now and I just had the issue last night. The last system update was in early march and it was only a security patch so it is unlikely that it was implemented in it (at least intentionally).

When you say you cleared cache, you meant the system cache partition, right?

Yes, first I tried clearing it from the system implemented cleanup tool then used 3rd party cache clearing apps and finally did so from the recovery mode and none of that worked.

You still didn't answer my question , do you have them locked to recent apps list?

Nope, there is no option to lock it in the first place and its not a set list of locked apps even if I open a new apps or even the settings it gets stuck as well.

You should be able to lock them , if you touch on top of the card in your screen shot just maps icon or settings it should give options.

Look at my screen shot20200424_205941.jpegScreenshot_20200424-205902_One%20UI%20Home.jpeg

No settings pop up there no matter how much I tried and if I press and hold on the app icon It pops up the App info page but I was able to lock the app which shows this new icon (https://ibb.co/30PVM0F) by sliding it down instead of up which means that none of the apps were initially locked.

Ok good , so we know it has nothing do with it being locked

I'm curious if if flip the cards up one by one do they go away instead of the trash can ?

Nope I've barely ever used the trash can before this problem happened so im used to clearing individually.
