No Sound on Repeat Notifications

I have a Pixel 8a using Android 16. I have 2 home security apps that send notifications every time they see movement. I only get the notification sound with the first notification from each app. If I do not clear the notification any additional notifications show up, but there is no sound. How do I make all subsequent notifications play the sound?

No Cooldown is not turned on.

No wearables. I do have the phone bluetoothed to my hearing aids. The first of each apps notifications comes through my hearing aids, any second or third notification does not come to my hearing aids nor does it sound on the phone. This behaviour is the same for all my apps. So for example gmail will only sound the notification for the first email that comes in.

If I do not clear the first notification the second one will not sound whether 30 seconds or 2 hours apart.

Some 3rd party app you installed might be causing the issue (and if you had to install an app for your hearing aids, I would focus on that).

See if the problem persists in Safe Mode: https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/2852139?hl=en. If it goes away, then you know that something you installed is the culprit; however, it can be a bit tedious to narrow it down afterwards. But as I suggested above, the first app I'd suspect would be a hearing aid app.

I went to Safe Mode, but no apps work so I do not get any notifications! I have tried deleting my hearing aid app plus 2 others. No change. So this may be a long process.
If I do find an app that is causing this what do I do. Apart from deleting the app. If I still want the app is there a way of resolving the issue?

Preinstalled apps like Gmail and Google Messages should still work (Safe Mode only disables 3rd party apps you installed). Can you test with notifications from one of those preinstalled apps?

OK so I went into safe mode. Both Gmail and Messages sound all notifications. When I came back out of Safe Mode, both Gmail and Messages still sound all notifications.
Unfortunately my security app notifications still only play a sound on the first notification.
So I guess I am left with deleting apps until I find which one is causing the second and all subsequent notifications to not play the sound. Unless you have a different suggestion

It can be tedious sometimes to narrow down the culprit. When you're out of Safe Mode and the security app sounds its first notification, does that make all other apps stop giving subsequent notifications, or only the security app?

All the other apps still give the expected sound notifications even after the security apps first notification.

It sounds like it might be a bug with the security app. Send feedback to their dev.
