I don't know how I did it but I had the same problem as you can see from my reply above if you have picture in picture options anywhere turn them off and make sure that your screen rotation is on that's the only way I know how to describe fixing it. I made sure that in the drop-down where the flashlight and stuff is make sure that your screen rotation is selected so it's on and then wherever if you go into your app manager or however you can get to where your YouTube app is where you can choose for stop don't choose for stop but scroll down to where it says picture in picture and shut that **** off great success work for me hope and all that mumbo-jumbo above you can figure it out and it will work for you.

I have a samsung galaxy s8 and while watching YouTube ever minute or so it would go to picture in picture mode. To fix, go to settings, go to apps, click the 3 dots in the top right, then press special access, then click picture in picture and select the app that is giving you problems and it wont happen anymore (this was written on 12/20/18 for future reference)

My Google maps is having the exact same problem. YouTube is doing it as well. It has been doing it since the last OS update. Just recently my keyboard has started closing randomly as well.

I've had the exact same problem with my Galaxy J7. Anytime I'm viewing a video, on google or youtube, it minimizes or closes randomly. My keyboard has also been randomly appearing and disappearing. Also google maps minimizes itself randomly too. I've tried disabling picture in picture, and I'm not touching any buttons, or using a screen protector.

Next time it happens, swipe from the top of your screen to the bottom to open the notification screen an there it should show you a notification the (in my case) Opera browser is using 'screen in screen' mode, if you tap it you should be able to turn this off,

hope this helps
