im sorry if this has been asked before, but im using advanced task killer froyo, and im finding apps loading themselve. dropbox is suddenly open and i didnt use it. maps is open, not by me. att navigator (which i can only assume uses a lot of battery since its a gps app), open. i dont pay for that and never would. twitter, maybe a ghost has an acct thats being checked. asphalt 5. i tried it once when i first got my phone and never again. yet it keeps popping up.

any way to stop this? the battery life is bad enough without the preinstalled crap opening on its own. bad enough i cant delete a game i will never play, but for it to start on its own... ridiculous.

I think if you look into how Android works you will see why these apps "Open". (Think of it as they are open but not "running". ) Get rid of ATK, you don't need it with 2.2. If you keep it you will just get frustrated. If you don't want to see apps "open" without you doing anything you should avoid looking under the hood of Android because it basically operates this way.

Nobody on these forums recommends it. Task killers cause more problems on Froyo than they are worth. Uninstall it. It honestly doesn't matter what's running as long as your phone doesn't bog down (which it probably won't).

Will try without atk. Why do so many people recommend it if its not good?

Don't misunderstand, ATK IS good. Just, ATK was designed mostly for Android versions 2.1 and lower. With the way 2.2 Froyo is written, you are just going to basically be in a "no win" contest with Froyo if you continue to use ATK.

I found out TK's are crap too. I used one for about 2 minutes and saw the system opened them right back up so I said hell with it. The phone knows what it needs to do and I let her do her thing now. Running just fine. It's not bogging down or lagging in any way shape or form. TK's aren't necessary.
