Apps not staying active

Has anyone else noticed apps not staying active since upgrading to 2.2?

At first it was just the market, I never get update notifications unless I launch the market app.

Now lately I'm noticing that I occaisonally have to resign in to GTalk although I have it set for automatic signin...so it's not staying active like it used to.

I'm new to the Dinc and I have found this is to be very frustrating. I will have an app running and I will switch to another app, and when I come back the first app is closed. In fact, I never know when something is running or not with Android. I came from the Storm and I always knew when something was running by using the task manager. What is the best solution for this on Android?

Are either of you using a "task killer" that has an option set to wipe the cashe clean every time it runs? This could be the problem with you not being signed in.

I'm not using any task killers.
