I am new to the Android world, as i just got a Droid 4. I noticed my Facebook and other apps do not work when connected to WIFI. Is this a common problem? They work when on the 4g or 3g network.

Along similar lines, I have no issues whatsoever with my Droid 4 regardless of using LTE or WiFi. However, my wife's Droid 4 sometimes comes up with "Webpage not available" errors, so I am going to have to dig into that to figure out what happens, and I may just do a flat out factory reset and go from there since who knows what app may be causing it. It may be easier to do the FR and slowly reinstall apps until the problem resurfaces (IF it resurfaces).

Of course, if somebody else has an idea, that would be great, too. Maybe our problems are kinda-sorta connected?

Droid 4 with about 60 third party apps installed and not problem with using on 4G 3G or WiFi.

Of course my apps may be different than your so one of them may be causing the issue but it should work flawlessly on WiFi.

I have the same issue. The FB app will begin to load and I'll stare at the "buzzsaw" for a few minutes until it times out. I then get "connection lost". Oddly, if I use the browser to go there, I get the web page error.

I can use the browser to get to other sites OK. Youtube seems to take a long time to connect and play.

Once I turn WiFi off, everything works fine.

I do have some corporate mandated endpoint management components that may be causing this.

I also have the same issue. Turn on WiFi and I lose connectivity to the internet and all apps that use data connection stop working. Turn off WiFi and give it a couple seconds to reestablish 3G/4G and all apps resume their functionality.

This started within a couple days of buying the phone, before installing any significant apps.

Wow! I have the exact opposite effect. If I turn off data and use wifi, facebook comes up with flying colors. If I enable data and try bringing up Facebook it bombs, I get the lost connection try again every time. But once I leave my house and run FB it works like a charm. *shrugs*

Anyone ever find a resolution? My wife has this phone and cannot use Facebook over WiFi anymore? Works fine on 3g/4g.

This is probably caused by the MTU size setting.

Try changing the MTU size value on the router to something like 1400 (setting is router specific - you should look for it under network settings of your router)
This has solved the problem for me a few times.
