Hello
Is there a way to tell if any apps are saved to just the sd card, and not to the phone? I have downloaded an app but I want to download a file from my computer to the app, so I can take that file with me wherever I go. The app is Families and is associated with Legacy Family Tree genealogy software. I believe the app needs to be on the sd card in order for the computer to 'read' the app. Hence, my asking if there's a way to tell where the apps are stored - the phone or the sd card?

Thanks!
Denise
P.S. By the way, this is my first smart phone and I think it's smarter than me! :D

Settings>Apps.

Then just click on any app you want to check, and if it says anywhere "Move to Phone Storage", it's on the Internal storage. If it says "Move to Internal Storage", then it's on the phone storage.

Hi Operation,
Sorry to sound dumb, but I really am dumb when it comes to this new technology. I can't keep up with it anymore.

When you say 'Internal Storage', does that mean the sd card? Okay - I've done what you said and when I touch the particular app, it brings up all the storage information: Total=3.36 MB, App=1.23MB, USB Storage app=2.06 MB and data=68.00 KB, phone storage=0.00B. Since there is no information in the phone storage and there is in the USB storage app, I'm assuming this app is in the SD card then? Also, it has a button that says 'Move to Phone'. Another indicator that this app is stored in the sd card.

Is there a way for the computer to 'recognize' the sd card, if I connect the phone to the computer? Do I need to download Sync to the computer? Sorry for so many questions!

Using your charge cable, plug the phone into a USB port on your computer. On the phone screen will be a window that pops up that asks you to choose between charging or disk drive access. Select disk drive and then select Done at the bottom. Normally, the phone defaults to the charging mode so you likely never see this screen when you plug it in. Once it's disk drive mode, your computer will/should recognize the USB device and the drives associated with the phone and the SD card will show up in Windows Explorer. You can then navigate around on the phone to find information you want, ie to download pictures, upload music, etc. Be careful you don't delete critical information for the phone. Once finished, use the stop feature in Windows to stop these two drives...once you get confirmation they're stopped, you can remove the cord and your phone returns to its normal function.

^That.

But also, internal storage is the internal SD card and that's where apps get installed. Moving them to phone actually moves them to the system and installs them there.

Correct me if I'm wrong anyone.

Hi Kurt,
A window does not pop up on my phone that asks me to choose between charging or disk drive access. Nothing comes up on the phone or the pc. Incidentally, thinking the cable that came with the phone wasn't working, I bought another USB cable for my phone. I'm using that cable, and still nothing comes up on the phone or the pc. What am I missing??

Could be that your settings default immediately to charge. There is something under Settings > Connect to PC where you can check a box to ask you when connecting. Mine is checked so it asks to either charge or go to SD card. I typically don't do anything, and it defaults to charge.
