Apps with overlay

I found several key operational apps that say overlay at the end what is this and why are they "overlay"? I have a Alcatel TCL LX Android 8.1

They're just that, overlay-related processes. Some apps (and the system itself) need to display things on top of running apps without interrupting them, so these 'overlay' processes handle that stuff. Last thing you want is a message pop-up interrupting your time-critical boss battle on a game or the nail-biting finale of your favorite TV show.
