I hope this is the right section, mods feel free to delete/move but I did not see a section for apps. I have had my Optimus S for less than a week but I immediately rooted, installed a custom recovery, and flashed ThunderRom, which I love! The only thing I missed that I found really handy on my Hero with Cyanogen was the widget picker which groups the widgets in your list (when you long press the screen and choose widget). I finally found the name of the app, AppWidgetPicker (from searching the changelog for CM) and googled to find the .apk over at XDA:

[App] AppWidgetPicker - xda-developers

It needs to be pushed to system/app and permissions have to be changed to match the rest of the .apk files in that folder but after a reboot all the widgets are grouped. (ie: I have Desktop VisualizeR installed and that has 11 widgets, which are all grouped into one entry on the widget list). It's distributed under an Apache 2.0 license. I would love to see this included in ThunderRom but it's really not hard to move it to system/app with root explorer.

Awesome...now I'm a notification drawer power widget away from perfection! Thank you for the heads up!

Don't worry, because as soon as I get AOSP working perfectly, I'll start on getting CyanogenMod 6 working for us. Unfortunately we won't be able to get CyanogenMod 7 (Gingerbread) until an ARMv6 phone using the Adreno200 GPU gets an official Gingerbread update. I mean technically you could use it, but it wouldn't be worth putting up with lag (from the missing GPU driver).

This works great, thanks!

I don't have root explorer, (don't feel like payiing for it), and couldn't figure out how to make it copy in Astro, (wouldn't give me a "Paste" option while in /system/app....and I couldn't figure out how to enable root privileges), but I downloaed ES File Explorer, gave it root and told it to mount /system in settings, and used that to copy. No permission work needed, it already seemed to have the right permissions. I rebooted, (not sure if I had to), and it worked great!

Chatted with Boom and he was more than happy to donate the app to team ThundeROM. Version 1.6.2 is up for download and now includes AppWidgetPicker. Thanks for pointing it out and HUGE thanks to Boom for the gracious donation.

I have 1 app that has 12 widgets!! so this is certainly a welcome addition.
