Sure, these things are all over the internet dirt cheap, but are there any good ones? I see mostly the same model (One with two buttons, a large iOS button and a smaller Android button) spammed all over Amazon, but I also see a lot of complaints about them breaking, battery compartments not fitting, or their app demanding a ton of permissions it has absolutely not right to like access to call logs.

Are there any good ones one can recommend? Either on Amazon or in other stores, even retail ones in the US?

As mentioned above, watch or a basic cheapo Bluetooth remote.

They all neither work reliably or are cheaply built. So go with cheaply built and you won't be bummed if breaks. I have one like you described that came with my tripod. It's cheap and crappy but it also still works just fine 2 years later.

My pixel watch 2 is the best camera remote I've ever used. Period.
I mean, I have no doubt those would function great for that and they have many other uses, but if you just need a remote camera shutter than it's rather expensively extravagant to use a smartwatch just for that.

So are they all the same? Do you at least know which ones have a reliable app and not that mess I mentioned where the app attempts to gain permissions it has no right accessing?

Mine doesn't use an app at all. It's just a basic Bluetooth connection. Most of those dual button Bluetooth ones should be and not require an app. I assume there's an API they are leveraging that's bound to a specific Bluetooth command. In other words, basic shutter is baked in as far as I'm aware.

When I used one of those cheap Bluetooth ones I used CamKix. Just remember to get an extra battery for it, the one it ships with is crap.
Just search for it on Amazon it's around $13

How they work is they are basically Bluetooth volume controls. You need to set your camera app to use the volume buttons as camera shutter.
