Are message reactions possible at all?

I have the S22. Whether I'm texting another android or not, I've NEVER seen the text reaction option. My phone came with chat features enabled, but nowhere have I ever seen the react options.

Is it still a possible feature at all?

When you long press the message in charge should give option? Both users need be Android and chat

It says chatting at the bottom of message thread ? If not it's going through as sms .
You using Google messages or Samsung both come stock ?

Yeah should long press and see options for reactions does it show read receipts?

Yes because if they using carrier RCS chat might not be compatible

And there's still no compatibility to use reactions with friends texting from an Apple phone?

You can see their reaction with iPhone but can't react to theirs , needs the toggle in Google messages to be enabled

On the latest Google messages update that I was able to download today from the Play store, I can now do reactions which will show up on an iPhone. Previously when I try to hold and select a message to do a reaction it would not come up. But now it does!

I don't know when it started working, but I can react to iPhone messages now too. Thanks for the update.

There been at least 3 updates recently to Google messages so last one looks like it triggered it

I noticed I could do it to someone with an iphone to last night. I was using Samsung and switched to Google a couple weeks ago.
