Are new threads not allowed in this forum?

Every new thread instantly gets merged into an existing 800+ post thread, even when the subjects are not aligned with the 800+ post thread they are getting merged into.

Why is that?

Also which thread will this one get merged into? Or will it get moved to a new forum entirely? The suspense is killing me.

New threads are welcome but we are seeing a lot of threads that are similar to a topic by about.. 99%. The only difference is maybe a thought from the OP. As much as we encourage participation we can't have everyone make a thread about the same topic just to share their view. It would be better to post in the existing threads.

I'll add that this is nothing new - the Guidelines have been this way for years. Folks shouldn't create duplicate topics and should always use the search feature to see if a topic already exists prior to creating a new one.
