Are people getting this at BB anymore?

Here's the issue...I've held out for a tab and really never wanted the Ipad or Ipad2. I'm still interested in getting the Prime, but I'm sorrta restricted to BB because I have enough gift cards to pay for the Prime without paying any actual cash. However, it seems like it is sold out online and showing no signs of being available online. When I check the availability at the stores they all say unavailable. Has anyone had any luck at BB recently with the Prime? If it is not in stock at BB by February I may have to consider the IPad because I really don't like any other android tab.

I had pre-ordered a prime from BB on black friday using my credit with them. I was going to get 6 months no interest. I was on back order until I cancelled the order last week. Customer Service told me it could be until mid Feb before it shipped. I was seeing other web sites selling the Prime and got lucky getting the 399.00 price on hhgregg before they yanked it. I'm on back order again, but the 100.00 savings is worth it. Plus, no sales tax, just a $15.00 shipping fee. So if I was you I would just use the gift cards and get it cheap, you'll thank yourself latter. Just IMO.

I'm in a very similar situation here, except that I'd cut off both arms and swallow a box of razors before I'd buy an Apple product these days. I've been watching BB for the Prime like a hawk, and keep debating about waiting a little longer to see if it shows up or so I can snag one or just buying something else a little more dated (Iconia A200 most likely).

At first I couldn't imagine they'd be backordered until mid-February. ASUS said in early December that they would ramping up production on additional batches due to demand and projected availability in January. However, I just did some digging and when Amazon started taking orders again on 12/21 they were apparently saying 4-7 weeks for delivery. That would mean 1/18-2/8 timeframe, which we're barely in now. I'll probably wait, as I'll have another stack of gift cards/Reward Zone money coming in February that could pay for the keyboard as well. If it's not available then I don't know what I'll buy.

I bought my Prime and Dock from Best Buy and received them pretty quickly. I ordered the Prime a few days after christmas and had it in my hands a week later. For the Dock I went in to Best Buy and did an OMS order and had it ready for in store pickup within a week.

I love this tablet too. I own an iPad2 and it is ok but the Prime does SO much more with all of the added features like USB and expandable memory. The fact that it plays most media types is also a great plus.

Have been watching all of the stores (like a hawk, as someone put it) and noticed them available on Office Depot again. Haven't seen Best Buy open back up after that first day.

Heard somewhere another shipment is going out around early Feb for Amazon and BB, so it could easily be mid-Feb before BB opens up ordering again.

For anyone who isn't waiting to use Gift Cards @ BB, I would suggest Office Depot:
ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF201 Tablet 32GB by Office Depot

It's scheduled to arrive 1 week after I ordered it (so not too long of a wait at all!)

For the OP, Do NOT get an iPad. Just wait it out. 1 more month for the tablet you want vs 2 years using a pile of walled garden BS. You will (WILL) regret getting the iPad2 when the Prime is available a week or two after you get the Pad. 2 - 4 weeks isn't that long in the grand scheme of things.

I got the last one at my local Pittsburgh store (whew!)

i got mine at best buy the hour they put it up on the website 2 weeks ago i love it no problems... But i will also be purchasing the TF 701..

Yes just got mine tonite at bb keep eye on their website stock chqanging fast in my area

Checked BB this morning, none on their web site. I checked store availability and there are two stores on the list of my area (both in more rural communities) saying "IN STORE ONLY". The closest one is about 30 minutes from my home, we have freezing rain coming shortly, and I'm at work for another 7.5 hours. Wonder if I could get them to hold one for me until tomorrow (assuming that they are not "open box").

Niceeee. Did you get that BB buy back option or whatever? I don't know anyone who has done that, but it's my understanding is that you pay a % more when you would have bought the Prime and then if the 700 series comes out within 6 months you can get it for like 60 or 70% off when you exchange in your Prime?

Wow, I was intrigued by the buyback program. I hadn't heard about it until you mentioned it so I went and looked at it on BB's website. What a ripoff. For the first six months you get 50% back. For the next six months you get 40% back, from 12-18 months you get 30% and from 18-24 months you get 20% back. The kicker is that for a tablet you have to pay $49.99 up front for the program. So basically you're paying another 10% up front to get from 10-40% back on the back end if you trade it in. I'm pretty sure during all time periods you can do much better on Craigslist selling your item than you can trading it in to BestBuy and you don't have to pay up front for the privilege of being able to trade it in.

Just an FYI, you can unload gift cards on eBay for 95-100% of face value (i know it's weird the gift card market on there) minus seller fee's.

Just saying if you can't wait, and don't mind losing a couple bucks to transfer the cards into cash.

I've done so many times successfully. Just keep records of everything, and you shouldn't have a problem selling if you chose to do so.

The paying extra part to sign up for the future trade in is a scam.

You can unload your electronics for better market value elsewhere when the time comes, not to mention, they offer a FREE trade in program for items you did/did not even purchase from BB here: BestBuy.com Trade-in Center

I've used it a few times, only issue i have is that it's a SOLID 30-45 days before you see the gift card, though they have changed to electronic gift card delivery now via email (can't vouch for this change)

The paying extra part to sign up for the future trade in is a scam.

No doubt. You're basically paying extra on the off chance that you'll be trading in the item at some point in the future. So you end up paying 110% of the BB price (which is already 5-10% higher than other places) so that you can trade it in later. If you figure they have at least a 30 day warranty there's really only a 5-month window at most during which you can get "50%" back. But if you get 50% back, you're basically only getting 40% back because you already paid the other 10%. It's a huge loss for the consumer who falls for it. Basically it's an outlet to try to tap into the "get the warranty, then break it and get a free upgrade" customers that they used to have.

BB won't do anything that doesn't have a revenue stream attached. I can't stand them, personally. I'd never go there if people didn't give me gift cards for them all of the time. Apparently they have some longer-term financial issues too. There was an article on Forbes.com the other week forecasting their eventual demise, for all of the usual reasons.

That was fast. Now a third store shows stock while one of the original two I saw this morning show no stock. I can only assume that deliveries are trickling in and they're clearing out a few hours later. Hopefully the store by my house will get some tomorrow. :-)

I think that comes with the accidental damage. But i plan on using one for school and one at my house i sold my galaxy tab so i have more money to blow why not... I am not going buy any new tabs after this in 2 years

Stopped by my local BB this morning to see what the story was, if any were coming in a shipment soon, etc. The girl at the counter in the computer area said "we don't carry it and won't carry it because there's a lawsuit. You could try to order it online for store pickup though." WTF? If BB B&M won't carry it because there's a lawsuit then you're not going to be able to order it online and pick it up B&M. So I asked her to look it up in their system and see what other stores had them. She said nobody had them because of the lawsuit. I told her that other stores were showing them in inventory online, and she said that they were probably open box returns and wouldn't look to see if anyone had them because there's a lawsuit so they won't sell them.

Then I pointed out that Amazon got a shipment yesterday and is promising 1/25 for delivery, and she said nothing. It's not wonder that BB has gone down the toilet when your staff and throwing out lies and excuses for simply not having stock. If you treat your customer like an idiot, they'll find somewhere else to shop.

And now Amazon is out of stock (unless you want to pay extra from a 3rd-party vendor on the marketplace). Why, oh why do people constantly give me BB gift cards? The only reason that I ever shop there is because I have the gift cards, and it's always a painful and frustrating experience when I do. I should've just said to hell with it and bought at Amazon and found some poor bastard to buy the BB gift cards.

EDIT: Called the store after I got home to see if someone could look it up, they say they're getting more stock on Thursday. Mark one up for the "highly educated and competent" staff at Best Buy.

I went to my local Best Buy today just to see if there was anything on the floor, which there wasn't. A guy working there came up to me and asked if I needed any help so I told him I was curious if he knew when they would be getting the Prime. He immediately knew what I was talking about and said that supply has been pretty tight but he could check the system and see if he could order one in. He checked the computer (I assume their OMS system) and said, yep they show in stock and they could get me one in by the 26th. Needless to say, I had him place an order for the Prime and the keyboard dock right there. The items will ship to the store and I will receive a notification when they come in. I CAN HARDLY WAIT! :)

See, that's the that I can't stand about Best Buy. I get one girl telling me that they won't carry them because of the lawsuit. I get another person telling me that they're sold out and they have no idea if they'll ever get anymore. I get another person saying they have some ordered but can't tell me when they'll get them. I get another person saying that they'll be in on Thursday (the 26th), but I can't "order it" and they can't hold one for me, I should just keep calling every day and come in first thing Thursday morning.

Then you tell me they ordered one for you.

WTF is wrong with this company?

O shot I like having two tabs I am up in the air i prob will keep the prime and just get the tf 701..
