are the pixel phones really not worth it? being swayed

The design is ok with me. I do wish the XL was 5.7-5.8" though

I love the finger print scanner on the rear.. I wish they would have reduced the top and bottom bezel some or extended the screen to 5.7 ish size... See what people think once they start getting in peoples hands... the Motorola Nexus 6 was almost too big... I found the 6p to be about perfect....

I'm starting to lean towards the asus zenfone 3 deluxe with 6gb RAM and 256gb on board memory with expandable memory. That model will have the snapdragon 821 in it as well and the $70 savings is looking more enticing.

Ultimately the complaints over Android boiled down to lack of optimization of the software due to hardware differences, at least that's been the "rallying call" for iOS with less RAM, smaller battery, etc ... So I think Pixel Phones bridge that gap and how well it works will be seen but I get it and I'm in.

Additionally I get the VZW partnership, they need the shelf space because seriously those of us on forums are the 1%. Ive had my casual tech friends see my Nexus 6P and ask why can't I get that at Verizon? So I think it'll be seen if Android has been too far entrenched in the cheap mobile market to make a dent into iPhones handle on high end.

Ultimately though, if you want a pure experience, updates, and like me always need the latest tech toys I doubt you'll be disappointed. You can always get it preorder, and return it within 30 days and see if it works for you.

Price factor would be issue for me, however I do understand they need to price right to compete with the other OEM, other than the price, I also concern the availability for other region, specifically Asia region. If they doesn't officially ship to my country, I need to pay extra fees to buy the phone, which further contribute even further more stress to my wallet.

All of the premium phones add exclusive features. Pixels by definition are just Android. Of course they are not worth the $ compared to a v20 or s7 edge or even the ill fated note 7 feature wise. Unstable batteries could be an issue in any phone. In iPhone you pay for the software.

If the Pixel had smaller bezels and a 5.7 inch screen in same size phone I'd be all over it. The one thing Pixel provides is lack of lag since there aren't any features added to slow down the phone.

I will have to wait for the reviews. I will say I have not been impressed by the FIRE BREATHING (hot) and BATTERY SUCKING Qualcomm flagship chips, nor am I moved by Quad HD battery hungry displays. And I certainly don't want a phone any bigger than my Droid Turbo 2. Nor do I get why smartphone vendors are so quick to match Apple's "thinness" when I have yet to see anybody saying, "I choose my phone based on the thinness."

I have ZERO interest in VR -- nor does 90% of smartphone buyers. I just want a long lasting battery, great camera, and the ability to check news, play music, surf the web, do email/SMS/calls, etc.

If the smaller version has impressive battery life, then I am potentially interested in that one. But for me, $600 for a 128MB, is the most I would pay. And historically Google has many special pricing offers throughout the year....

I think you meant 128gb?

I just want to share a couple thoughts on why I decided to buy the Pixel:

I originally decided to buy the Note7. Due to some confusion with my account, Verizon wouldn't let me, and after all that's happened with the Note7, I am so glad I didn't. I'm not gonna pile on the Note, except to say my Samsung tablet has had battery problems since I got it. I feel like Samsung has gotten complacent when it comes to quality control due to their incredible and deserved success.

I said all of that to help put my decision to buy the Pixel in the proper context.

This is the first device that is "Made by Google". As their first, it has to be perfect. By putting their name on it, they are staking their reputation on it. Unlike Samsung, who I think will easily rebound from the disaster that is the Note7, Google doesn't have brand loyalty to rely on when it comes to Hardware. If this device is a piece of crap, it would be a serious blow to all of their future plans, and Google knows it, which is why they have consistently taken full credit for every aspect of the device. They're swinging for the fences, and I have to believe it's because they have that much confidence in the Pixel.

So, I pre-ordered it, even though I have never pre-ordered a device in my life. I have faith in Google because of the reasons mentioned, and I believe that once reviewers and consumers get their hands on it, people who took the leap of faith will be rewarded.

At least I really hope we are..... Lol.
