I checked over here about a month ago and it seemed like a lot of people were complaining about 3G/4G issues. I don't really see any threads on that now. Was this issue fixed with an update or has everybody just given up and sopped complaining about it. I'm about to upgrade my parents phones from Blackberry's to Android and I'm considering wither the Nexus S 4G or the EVO 4G - or I might have to hold out for the rumored (cough, cough) iPhone on Sprint for them. They have iPad's and Mac's and I know they'd be happy with that. I on the other hand would not be.
Are the radio issues solved?

Radio yes but now the EVO is just a mess with the gb update. I would get the nexus and don't even think about the iPhone just thinking about it is making me feel a disturbance in the force

Have never really had an issue at all!
Coming from a launch day Pre, this has been a world of difference! Went threw 4 of them.
The 4G has worked well where I have it and the wifi has never been inconsistent!
At one point I thought I might be having an issue with the 4G but after testing it out and trying to make sure of everything, I came to the conclusion that it was a dead spot I was in.
Very pleased with it!!! Family and my gf have iphones. I feel trapped when I try to use them. I love being able to customize and use how I want!!! And having 2.3.4. . .
I just love this phone man!!!
No they are not fixed. I get horrible 3G/4G and Wifi signal. It may not affect all Nexus owners but it sure does me! This update needs to come out asap!
Thanks for the replies guys. Not sure what the first responder was talking about with the EVO. My wife has a stock EVO with 2.3.3 installed and she's having no problems whatsoever.
The iPhone comment es not made to troll. I'm a huge Android fanboy, but when buying a phone for my parents in their 70's, limitations are just what they need. However, they also need a big screen so I may end up getting them an EVO or even a Photon since they travel overseas quite a bit. I won't get a NS4G until they've fix the issues. Won't be making a move until September either way.

Personally I don't have any signal issues. The wifi is a bit weak but I'm never more than 25' from the router in my house. 4G is inconsistent but it's inconsistent for everyone on Sprint.

With my EVO, I can sit at my desk at work and enjoy a stable-strong 4G signal. With my NS4G, sitting at the same desk it doesn't pick up a 4G signal at all. Either the NS4G has an "issue", or the EVO has an exceptional radio.
The radio issue is not a NS4G problem, it's a some NS4G problem. Only some people have the issue. Just like any other phone. There is a huge thread in the EVO 3D forum about signal issues. It's just that the people that do have the issues are vocal about it(rightly so). I personally have no issues whatsoever. I seem to get better reception than I did with my EVO
My signal issues are extremely bad. I have a repeater at work and a Airave at home so most of the time I'm covered. When I'm not at work or home, I rarely get calls. A workaround to know that you've missed a call is to set Google voice to text you for missed calls. Keeping in mind that notification only works when my phone decides to lock on to a signal again. BTW - The area I live in is blanketed in Sprints "BEST" 3G coverage. I try not to be overly vocal about this issue but I'm definitely in a bad spot. I will most likely be heading to Verizon if the update doesn't fix my issue. Personally I think it's a tower/baseband issue with Sprint.

Can you test another Sprint phone where you have problems? If its that bad, and the phone, I would be heading into the store for a replacement

To your first question, the signal problems are yet to be addressed on the Nexus. There has been a lot of chatter and rumors recently about an impending update to address those and other issues but has not come down yet - I believe it will be coming at some point in the near future.
Regarding the merits of the NS4G as an Android device I have to say is a great headset and once all the issues are resolved it will be a great performer.
Since this is a choice for your folks rather than yourself, consideration should be given to other issues besides the iOS vs Android debate. They seem to be technically savvy and happy with the iPad, so the question - beside which device they actually prefer - should center around what they use the devices for and how much of a hassle would it be to learn or migrate to a new OS at this point.
If in the end a move to Android is the best choice for them, the Nexus is a fine device.

I have had reception issues since the beginning, and replaced the unit after a week. Sprint gave me a gratis Airave, which worked wonders for the first two weeks, but now it is starting to lose signal again. I find myself restarting the phone a few times a day, too, because once it loses the wifi or 3G/4G signal, it won't pick it back up. (I do get voice calls now, though, so that's an improvement.)
Sure, I could go get another NS4G, but I'd rather wait until the rumored patch is released, and see if that solves it. If it doesn't I will have some tough decisions to make.
I believe that it's a signal issue relating to sprints towers because at work, our sprint repeater works flawlessly with my NS4G. Once I leave work, I've found that only in specific areas of my city do I have signal issues, which is telling me that it's most likely issues with individual towers. Nothing scientific to back this up, just my experiences.

Then if that doesn't fix it, I'll move forward accordingly. I'm not too mad about this whole issue because sometimes its nice to not be bothered all the time (mainly work).
