Are there any deal breakers for you?

Is anyone that was contemplating getting either the Galaxy S8/ S8 plus now NOT getting it for some deal breaker?

I am still rocking a Galaxy S5 and am waiting for the Note 8.

But.......

If I was considering the S8, the fingerprint reader would have been a deal breaker to be honest. Just so bad and wrong on a number of levels. Too high up on the phone compared to other phones with a rear reader, the sensor too small in area compared again to other phones. And of course, that notorious placement next to the camera. I wonder how many others are going to give this phone a miss just because of this.

I know the story of how this reader got placed there. Apparently Samsung were working furiously on an under the glass fingerprint reader but ran out of time. A late minute decision put the reader in that awful location.

Also, I think the battery capacities are very conservative relative to the screen. I understand why after the Note 7. But I would have taken a chance with that.

But for me, the fingerprint reader would have been a deal breaker. The iris scanner is no substitute. Press the power button, swipe up, hold the phone close to your eyes. Not convenient for every time time want to unlock. And the face scanner is more convenient than secure.

I soooooo hope the Note 8 improves on this. Otherwise I'll be hanging out for the S9.

Deal breakers anyone?

Not having an option to buy a flat screen version is a deal breaker for me. I just don't like curved screens at all.

Thanks for the replies. I do believe this is a MAJOR design stuff up. I wonder how many small handed females will pick up one of these phones and move on to something else.

Samsung should have not been so optimistic to get the under the glass scanner ready for the S8. Someone in charge should have made the decision early on to redesign the housing and put a larger, rear scanner below the camera in the center.

I honestly do believe a lot of non Samsung enthusiasts will pick up the phone, fumble with the fingerprint scanner and look elsewhere.

I'm sure that Samsung will hear swift feedback about this and correct this on their next phone. Just like the wave of negative feedback when the S6 was released, and unpopular commercial decisions like no SD card and no waterproofing were reversed on their next phones.

The price might be a deal breaker for me. As much as I want it, I don't think I can justify over $1000 for a phone. I have high hopes for OnePlus this year

Do you work for LG or something? You've mentioned this 6 times already!

No bro just not that impressed with s8 this year.. Last year I skipped g5 for s7 edge and this year skipping s8 for G6... Just want Samsung to make flat screen phones again..
And want G6 to gets its due being a fantastic phone... People get involved in Samsung hype

Main showstoppers for me are the fingerprint (just daft placement) and battery downgrade (s8 vs s7 edge). Would also have liked a dual lens camera.

Sadly the deal breaker for me was they left out the IR blaster!
I so wanted to own the S8+ The IR blaster is a must for me.
Looks like another year with my S6.

If you are waiting for the IR blaster you may be with your S6 for life.

Right now the total silence on headphone audio quality is the biggest concern for me (I don't care how good included headphones are - I have better ones myself already, so to me those are just inflating the cost of the phone - it's the DAC and amp driving the output that matter).

S8 series are not impressive to me, as ex owner of S7E and now Mate 9, i expected more.

Samsung stated the S8 have 32bit audio DAC, how good it is we will see, speaker is mono again, no IR Blaster, battery will be just ok, DVFS is still there which means gaming peformance will be throttled on not so popular games, nothing really that is must have, it's a slight modification of S7.

Currently looking forward for Mate 10, Note 8 or any other wow devices, ye like Axon 8(if it will be).

Interesting, I see nothing at all special about the G6. Looks like a Pixel, just released about six months later. I think the S8 looks great except for the curved screen. Will save my money.

Hmm, i don't think there isn anything that makes me not want to buy it just because of one feature, or lack there of. The Fingerprint sensor at the back isn't in the greatest position but it wouldn't make me not pick up the device. The only thing i was a little worried about was the actual physical size of the device. The 5.8" inch screen size sounded very large to me but when i looked at the actual measurements, 149mm isn't too bad. :)

I do kinda wish there was a flat screen version but not a deal breaker. More just a personal preference. :)

G6 ticks all the boxes I need... For me it's awesome and in India I will get 64gb and hi-fi dac and free 1 time screen replacement and I love flat screen and dual camera... If. Samsung s8 had flat screen and dual camera I would have. Purchased s8 or s8+ but battery is again a problem on s8 duos
