Are you buying the Galaxy Note7?

...

If use the spen a lot (I do) the nothing beats the note. If you don't then you have a fantastic alternative in the s7e.

If you don't use the S-Pen, the Note is still a great phone. I go through spurts of using the S-Pen, not using it. Even if I never used it, the Note 5 (and I bet the Note 7) would be well worth it. I can't wait for my new one to arrive

I don't know why some people are so disappointed because they didn't see 6gb or 4000mAh on the Note 7.. Let me tell you 4gb and 3500mAh are more than enough to get you through a long day specially with the new software and system management and tons of bloatware been removed like they did in the s7. I don't know about you but I'm definitely buying the new note. :)

Jeepers, I am like the chubby pilot in Star Wars, but instead of "Stay on target", my line is "Stay on topic". Pew pew! :)

My local corporate Verizon store has one on display, so will test it out tomorrow and decide :)

BTW, sealed batteries and sd slots are probably here to stay. The former helps reduce the smart phone retirement curve and the latter Samsung invested millions in getting cards to 256GB (ceiling was 200gb for current micro sd tech). Samsung is going to need to sell a LOT of cards to make that up and the number one device that uses them is smart phones.

Ask a Samsung rep and they would tell you that the previous devices were hurt sales wise without them. Look how well the S7's are doing.

Ah! Stay on topic! ;) :)

SD Card was an easy add back, removable battery not so much.

I've learned to never say never. I'm still waiting for the next ground breaking feature to come like a regenerative charging system.

Although I have an edge 7, I'm starting to warm to it. I'll be closely monitoring the reviews over the next few weeks before I make my final decision, can't decide between the black and coral blue colours, they both look superb!

That would be cool or some kind of solar charging built in.

If I recall correctly they only removed the SD card since they couldn't get the water proofing. That's the only reason it was gone in the S6.

If we believe what Samsung said.

I plan on buying it. Trying to decide to order it or just go after it's released and buy it in the store. What do you all think?I hear stories about people saying they got their pre orders after release date and they could have bought it in the store sooner.

Depends how soon you preorder and who you are with. T-Mobile is notorious for shipping early. This will be my first preorder with them so I hope I don't jinx everyone and we get it early. Ha!

Previously I was with Sprint and did all my preorders at best buy so i never got the phones early.

I'm waiting to see if I can snag a global variant from a place like B&H.

If it's like the S7, then it should work on AT&T and T-Mobile.

I'm trying to understand what "hardware” features you value more than the way better hardware on the Note 7? Removable battery? You guys are just going to have to get over it. It's gone and Samsung will not be bringing it back. I think I can speak for the majority of people that are REAL Note fans and say we are tired of hearing the Note 4 people crying about the removable battery issue. It's gone, if you have nothing positive to say about the Note 7 just stay over in the Note 4 section and praise your obsolete Note 4.

Never say never. I heard the exact same statement about SD cards. And yet here we are with SD cards again.

I'm waiting till its in stores, I want to see it and play a little. I buy my phones full price and am on att go phone. I find this plan to be cheaper then contract.

Don't forget the S5 was IP67 certified. It had both a removable battery and the SD card slot.

I'm seeing this "power user" myth crop up again and it needs to be dispelled. Power users are not users of any one particular feature. They're users who push the limits of productivity with the best available hardware. In 2014 the power users probably bought Note 4's. In 2015, the power users would have bought Note 5's or Nexus 6P's. In 2016 they're buying the S7 Edge, Note 7, Nexus Marlin, Axon 7, etc, etc. Real power users are not limited by the features of any particular device, they buy the best device available and then find a way to get their tasks accomplished. Hand them a Moto G, they're still a power user, they're going to get more out of it than your grandfather will. Because it's the PERSON that's the power user, not the S-Pen, or the Waterproofing or the LED flash or any single set of features.

What kind of a "power user" would throw away 100 improvements in order to gain one that they're just not willing to solve for? That's how amateurs behave, not power users. Power users take their limits and push them. Amateurs skillfully play within the limits as they understand them. If a removable battery is your definition of a power user, I'm sorry but that's just flat out wrong and it's an attitude that no power user would dare admit to because it's an admission of inability to actually be the driver of their own destiny.

There are several innovations that made replaceable batteries a moot point. Now, several users still PREFER the one solution they're familiar with over the others, but that doesn't make the others cease to exist. And all of the others are better for the device than hot swapping. They're not wrong for having a preference, but it would be wrong for us to take them at their word that they're power users - because a power user wouldn't be lamenting, they'd be out solving problems.

I'm not saying any of this to insult anyone, this is just an important distinction. Power users define their experience, they don't let the hardware define it. They're like MacGyver. They can get you your 10 hours of SOT out of a banana. And give you half of it back to make banana bread. With your shoelace. So let's no longer entertain the myth of power user when the power user says they are reliant on ANY nonstandard feature in order to achieve their status.

Last time I think carriers shipped on time but some third-party shops had delays

I'm planning on doing this also. I'd been a veteran of 4 preorders and have watched the most recent S7 pre-order threads.

There was nothing but anxiety waiting for status updates and shipping information. Depending on which carrier you're with ........ you'll at best get the phone delivered on release day. There were some folks who would be fortunate and get their phones a day or two earlier but my carrier never shipped early.

I'm going to save myself this grief and simply grab a bag of popcorn and watch the " Note 7 Delivered " thread the week of release !?!?!

I do wish everyone luck who's preordered and hopefully their orders are shipped early and timely

I'm curious what you mean by this. If the battery goes bad, many people would just upgrade away from it rather than pay a shop to replace it or risk doing it themselves. A removable battery could easily extend the life cycle of a phone for much less and with less waste. If there's other issues preventing charging within the phone (which I had happen twice), a phone with a sealed battery is nothing but a paperweight unless, again, you pay to get it repaired if there's no warranty. With removable batteries, you could at least have the option of an external charging cradle.

I know there are benefits to sealed batteries, but this one line of yours seems to run counter to those two problems that would actually cause people to retire phones prematurely. After dealing with sealed batteries (yes, I had an open mind to them), I've decided those two issues are something major that they simply can't get around as easily and cheaply as a removable battery and actually did cause me to replace one phone early. Then threw away money on a repair that didn't work, and early upgraded away from the second.

Or did I just misunderstand what you're saying?
